Vergil was uncomfortable. He hated how much attention they were receiving and the way the waiter and waitresses smirks became malicious the second they looked away. He suddenly didn't feel hungry. His hand was clenched around Yamato so tightly that his knuckles were white. The half-Devil was almost out of his seat when he froze.
For a second, Vergil thought his eyes were deceiving him. But glaring at him from behind a fringe of icy hair, and looking very much like a pissed off scene kid at a wedding, was Dante. His twin shook his head fractionally and Vergil could've sworn he new exactly what Dante was thinking. Sit your @ss down and keep playing along. Forget you ever saw me. Vergil sat down, blinked, and Dante was gone.
The feeling of apprehension increased and he looked over at Selena, attempting to calm down.
---
'Chef De Luca' made his way down the grand staircase with much bravado. If there was one thing he liked about the human world, it was how easy humans were to fool. His visible eyes scanned the dinners until he found the one that was glaring figurative holes into him. He smirked to cover his surprise. The Sons of Sparda looked far too much like their father.
He reached the cooking trolley and bowed in an over-the-top manner.
"Buona sera," he bid the restruant, as he turned on the burners for the trolley. "Tonight, I will be making the dishes for the lady and gentleman in the back."
He gestured towards Vergil and Selena's table, putting a little too much emphasis on the word 'gentleman'. The boy seemed anything but gentle at the moment. The demon then began making sauces as he chatted with the customers.

Selena observed Vergil quietly. She was glad to note that he had spotted Dante as well. He also seemed just as tensed as she was. More tensed, in fact. She wondered if he knew De Luca personally. The Chef had hinted as much in his announcement. She pushed bits of her salad around her plate as Chef De Luca cooked. She ignored the noise the crowd was making. They seemed enthralled by performance. At least, they weren’t looking at them anymore. She can’t say the same about the waiters and waitresses. They looked positively menacing.
She heard the sound of a chair being placed on the floor right in between them. The back of the chair was to the wall. She was a little offended. Chef De Luca clearly had every intention of joining them whether they liked it or not. She stabbed a piece of seaweed rather violently and twisted it about the plate. She was using every ounce of self-control to stop herself from setting the entire table on fire.
As soon as she put down her fork again, their salad plates were whisked away. Chef De Luca was done. The head waiter was bringing their food over. She sighed softly. She can’t believe that this was happening on their one month anniversary, of all days.
Before long, two steaming plates of pasta were placed in front of them. She turned to stare listlessly at the De Luca. He was walking over to their table amidst the cheers and cat-calling of the crowd surrounding him. He was certainly taking his own sweet time. The head waiter placed a wine glass in front of his place and walked off.
“Oh joy…” She thought sulkily.

Vergil put his hand on Selena's knee for a moment, trying to reassure her, and stopped. He didn't know how they were going to be able to handle this. Especially while dining with a Devil. The boy contemplated destroying the chair. As childish as it was, maybe it would delay De Luca. He didn't get a chance to act as De Luca sat down with them. He wondered if he should eat, or should say something but he held his tongue. Vergils knew De Luca must be enjoying this. And it really irritated him.

Selena felt Vergil put his hand on her knee. She petted it. She couldn't relax. She was still annoyed about the whole thing. She knew that it'll be rude to get up and leave. Well, it would be risky as well, since they've already signed the contract.
She heard the someone pushing the chair back. One of the waiters went over and assisted De Luca up the chair. She turned to him after he sat down. She smiled as charmingly as possible. She reminded herself that she should try to be as civil as possible. After all, he was still the owner of this place and they were his "guests".
"Good evening, what have we done to deserve such an honor?"
She picked up her wine glass and swirl it. She was still smiling. "I've heard that it's not everyday that you will decide to join your patrons at their table."

"You're not th average patron, are you?" De Luca said with a faint smile. He turned to Vergil, who was glaring at his plate, and added, "I knew your father."
Vergil hesitated and stated calmly, "A demon who knew my father, what an odd occurance. Considering that you are still living."

Selena watched Vergil and De Luca. At first, she thought that Dante really couldn't afford to pay the bill, but now she's having second thoughts. There was probably more to it than that. She was secretly amazed. It just dawned on her how well-planned out the whole thing really was. It was scary.
She put down her glass. She excused herself and left for the powder room. She entered for a short while before exiting again. She spotted Dante. He was still standing in the same position. She sneaked up behind him and tapped his shoulder. She did so discreetly.
"Dante?" She whispered.
She peered over his shoulder at their table. Vergil and De Luca appeared to be talking. She wished she was standing closer. She couldn't see Vergil's face. It was hard to tell what he was thinking or how he felt.

De Luca fixed Vergil with a curious look.
"There are those Sparda spared," he said cooly.
"Only those who could not be destroyed or were like him," Vergil conceeded. "You, however, are not like him." I know who you are.
---
Dante tilted his head towards Selena, not looking away from the table where his brother and Mundus sat. He was worried.
"You shouldn't be here, babe," he informed Selena with a frown. "It's a trap. Mundus knew you'd come."

"Clearly..."
Selena frowned she still can't see Vergil from where she was. She hoped nothing bad will happen while she was away. Well, Dante was here. She wondered if there was any way they can best Mundus at his own game. Dante should know... he was here for a week.
"Any way we can get out of it and help you and Maya out?"
She hoped nothing had happened to the girl. She hadn't seen her around. She took out a compact and pretended to examine her face. One of the waitresses was looking her direction. She hoped that the waitress didn't know she knew Dante.
"Is Maya around?" She asked even more softly than before.

"Just pay your bill and walk out," Dante said, his fists clenched in irritation. "Don't even bother eating. And don't talk to the jack@ss."
He snorted. "I thought you both were smarter than that."
The younger son of Sparda tensed up, looking sad behind his irritation.
"Maya..." -he licked his lips hesitantly- "...is...I haven't seen her since when came here."

"That's nice," Selena retorted.
"Your brother was actually very worried about you. Why do you think we came here in the first place?"
She was still looking at the mirror on her compact. She was pretending to apply her lip gloss. She noticed the security guards huddled at the entrance. They had been doing so for quite some time now. She didn't like the looks they kept shooting Vergil. She kept her lip gloss and compact.
"If you do change your mind..."
She shrugged. She hoped he get the implication. As much as she knew Vergil loved his brother, she wasn't going to waste her time on someone who didn't want to be helped. She can't poke around the restaurant without arousing the suspicion of the rest of the staff, so she decided to go back to her seat.
"Guess we'll just have to force Mundus to talk," she thought bitterly. "Dante was no help at all."
She was disappointed. He thought he'd do anything to make sure Maya was safe. She sat down. She believed that he was definitely not telling her something. She smiled sweetly and continued observing both men politely.

Before Selena left Dante whispered, "Leave now and meet me around back at midnight."
He went back into the kitchen.
---
"Then we have nothing more to say to each other," Vergil stated to De Luca as Selena sat down.
Mundus watched the boy for a long time. Darkness and despair seemed to flow from him. In the blink of an eye, everything returned to normal. "That's unfortunate."
Vergil stood up, dropped five hundred dollars on the table and gestured to Selena to come with him.

Selena stood up. She was sure that Vergil will be happy to hear Dante's message. She turned to De Luca and smiled.
"Thank you for being such a gracious host. It was a pleasure to meet you," she said rather cynically.
She didn't bother to wait for him to reply. She simply turned and walked over to Vergil. She linked her arm in his walked away. She didn't bother looking back. She smirked. She bet Mundus was furious.
She tensed up a little as they neared the exit. The security guards were still there. She hoped he wasn't going to try to pull a fast one on them. They've paid their bill after all. She leaned closer to Vergil.
"Do you think Mundus will try to stop us?" She whispered.
She didn't trust him. He was being far too nice about the whole thing. It was certainly setting off alarm bells in her head. The contract... she hoped there weren't any hidden clauses.

"Of course he will," Vergil murmured.
They headed towards the door. Before anyone could do anything, there was a flash of sliver around the guards and several jugs of holy water exploded. Vergil pulled Selena out the door and teleported them down the block, where his motorcycle was. They needed to get out of there. Fast.
---
Mundus fumed. He turned a furious gave on Salvi.
"You have failed me," he said. "You know the rules."
A moment later, Salvi was dead. Mundus went back to his office, lost in morbid thoughts.

Selena allowed Vergil to pull her along. She didn't even bother complaining when one of her heels snapped. She was still worried that Mundus would try to force them to stay. She wasn't sure how Vergil would have reacted if that happened.
As soon as they reappeared in front of motorcycle, she hopped onto the back and wrapped her arms tightly around his waist. She was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief after they crossed the second junction. They were safe. She leaned closer to him.
"Vergil, Dante asked us to meet him round the back at midnight..."
She didn't need explain how and why. She was sure that he probably noticed her talking to his brother no matter how discreet she tried to be. She grimaced. She hoped that Mundus didn't. It would make things more complicated if he did...

Vergil nodded, but didn't say anything. His hands were shaking and rage coursed through him like poison. In all his life, he'd never been this angry before. Of course Dante was near the root of this problem. The boy drove towards home, deciding that they were going to need to grab a couple things before going back.
