Selena dismounted when the arrived back at Vergil's place. She took off both shoes. She sighed. She was never going to listen to Erin again. High heels are cumbersome. She walked towards the door. She leaned against the wall as she waited for him to unlock the door. She checked her wrist watch. It was 10:55. They had about an hour to get ready and head back.
She looked up and smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry. It'll be over in no time."
It was risky, but she was optimistic.

Vergil unlocked the door and let Selena in. After a brief apolegetic look to Selena, he went up stares and eventually got the door open to Dante's bedroom. It was slightly cleaner than he expected. He picked up a duffle bag, tossed one of Dante's coats, a change of clothes, and Ebony and Ivory inside. Vergil wasn't even going to try fitting Rebellion in. He hurried back down stairs, panting slightly.
"Let's go," he said, knowing they hadn't been inside for long.

Selena dismounted. She smoothed the pleats of her mini skirt. She hated it when they were out of place. She adjusted her belt and made sure that Avnas was secure. She looked around. Dante didn't seem to be around. She wondered if they were too early. She checked her watch again. They were right on time.
"Where is he?" She asked softly.

"Dante's always late," Vergil murmured, but without his usual bite.
He could feel Dante nearby. He heard a faint noise and whipped around to press Yamato's blade against te new comer's throat.
"Attacking me while I'm unarmed? That's low, even for you," Dante quipped, a grim, but playful smile settling onto his face. He looked a bit of a mess and when a breeze blew his hair away from hiw forhead, they could see a large, slowly healing gash.
Vergil could have hugged him, but restrained himself.
"Dante...." he started, looking his twin over. He stopped then added sarcastically, "It seems you've been having fun."
Dante snorted.

Selena whipped round when she noticed Vergil unsheathing Yamato. She reached down for Avnas. She relaxed. It was only Dante. She stared at the gash for awhile.
"Guess the crew is rough, huh?"
She was trying to keep her voice steady. She paused. She might have accompanied Vergil once or twice when he went out on his jobs, but Mundus was a whole different ball game. To hide her nervousness, she crossed her arms and tapped her foot. She was impatient to start. She didn't want to have second thoughts. She was determined to go through with it. She smirked.
"So when are we going to start? I don't think we should keep Maya waiting."

"They're nice as pie," Dante joked, catching the duffle bag Vergil tossed to him. He slipped behind a dumpster to change as he said, "Mundus left after you did. Whatever you said must've really ticked him off, Verge."
Vergil said nothing, his face carefully clear of emotion. Dante came back over, slipping his holster over his shoulders.
"Maya's in the demon world," the younger twin stated. "The only way to get to her is in Mundus' office."

Selena flicked a lock of her away from her face irritably. The demon world was definitely one place she dreaded. She was afraid that she would sleep and never wake up. She felt that tired the last time they were there.
But, it was the only way to save Maya. Well, at least she knew that she tried. Vergil's happiness meant as much to her as her own happiness. The rest of the world can burn for all she cared. She removed Avnas from her belt and gripped the handle of the kitchen door. Just as she was about to throw the door open, she turned around and smirked.
"And here I was thinking that Mundus would be a little more conventionally. But, I'm not complaining. At least, we don't have to jump down the furnace."
She giggled. "I don't want to test how fire-proof my clothes really are. It might be embarrassing."

Dante snorted as Vergil pursed his lips together in silent disapproval. He really didn't want his brother to see his girlfriend nude. The elder twin also was worried for Selena. The boy could remember the last time they were there.
The clicking of Dante removing the safety from Ebony and Ivory shook Vergil from his morbid thoughts.
"Let's rock," Dante grinned, anxious.

Selena laughed. "I was waiting for you to say that."
She noted the expression on Vergil's face. She smiled sheepishly. Maybe she should be careful about making such jokes in the future. She tightened her grip around Avnas as she turned around and pulled open the door.

Vergil kept to the back of their little group as Dante ran into the kitchen, amidst a whirlwind of bullets. The younger twin made sure not to shoot any humans, though, and kept firing.
Vergil mentally sighed. It just proved Dante was an idiot.

Selena walked casually behind Dante, but she made sure she kept pace with Vergil. At the rate they were going, she figured that they'll probably reach the office in no time. She looked at the bodies of the demons littering the ground. One by one, the bodies began to fade. There wasn't a single trace left behind. She was impressed. She knew Dante was hyper-active but she didn't expect him to be that hyper-active.
Suddenly, she stepped on a pile of sand. She raised an eyebrow and looked up. This was new. She never seen a demon change into a pile of sand before.
"What else can they do after they die?" She asked as they began climbing up the stairs towards Mundus' office.

"Depends on the demon," Dante said carelessly, as he lovingly put his guns back into their holsters.
"As well as their elemental affinity," Vergil added, looking around cautiously. It didn't calm him down when they finally reached the empty office.
"I hate this part," Dante grumbled, glaring at the swirling surface of an odd mirror floating in midair.

"How does their elemental affinity affect them?"
Elements were something she rarely bothered revising. Magic doesn't harm her, so she never bothered about it, unless she wanted to learn a new spell. She was deep in thought. It dawned on her that elemental affinity might be different for demons.
She shrugged mentally. It was always good to know some extra information. It might come in handy now that they were about to enter the demon world. She was about to enter Mundus' office, when she paused. It was too quiet. She grabbed Vergil's arm.
"Don't you think it's weird that he left his office unguarded?"
She frowned. "It is probably a trap."

"Every demon has a different element," Vergil explained quietly. "Their affinity can tell you what weakens and what strengthens them."
Vergil thought a moment, reaching out with his senses. "The office was a front to get us to come. Now that we know about it and know about him, he's abandoned it for his own world." He nodded towards the weird mirror. "That's the way into the demon world."
"You jump in first," Dante said.

Selena pouted. "Now, that's not very gentlemanly of you, Dante."
She placed a hand on Vergil's shoulder and leaned her head on it as she looked at her boyfriend's brother coyly. "How could you let a lady jump in first? She might get hurt, you know."
It certainly sounded tempting to step through the mirror first, but she was no Alice. She wasn't keen on seeing what is on the other side. Knowing Mundus, it was probably something nasty. She drew circles on Vergil's chest as she wondered what surprises the devil had in store for them.
