Lovai blinked. If she couldn't hear this Janx in such a manner than that must mean, "You read thoughts?" He grinned, face lighting up as he did so, "Awesome!" The Elf wanted to ask a stream of questions - what it felt like, how it worked - but the girl was evidently too scared to be pestered, so he bit his tongue on his curiousity.
"Yes, this is Tipperary. I thought it was a bit... edgy too at first but Ruc and I aren't going to hurt you." He smiled, "Maybe we could help you find Janx?"
(sorry it's so short >.<)

“People aren’t divided into good and bad,” Rucran joked a little.
“And yes, we should help her find Janx. Need to think of the best way to go about it…”
His head was still hurting, thus his rather tetchy mood. He bent down and picked up the half of the wooden sword and examined it. Guessing the other half was among the bins, the half elf began rummaging around. Figuring out how to fix it would give him some time to think of what to do next. Leaving the little girl at the police station would be rather heartless.
“Where did you see him last?” He asked as he stood up to examine the weirdly shaped item he felt lying among the rubbish.
The thing in question appeared to be a hat of sorts. It was made from leather. Despite its slightly battered (and now stained) appearance, it was still useable. Curiously, Rucran slipped it on his head.
“How do I look?” He asked with a grin.

Karimi nodded in response to Lovai, smiling. "I know. You're not scary. I'm just not supposed to talk to strangers, but there's not anyone else here that seems nice....
"Ermm..." she looked at Rucran after his suggestion as he was sifting through the garbage. "I have the other half, Mr. Rucran." She held out the hilt of her broken sword. She lowered it, pouting and putting on the cutest little-kid voice she could muster; it always seemed to get her out of trouble with her grandpa, so it might work here. "I'm sorry I hit you in the head."
When he straightened out a moment later, her eyes widened. "That's my hat!" She jumped to attention, brandishing her broken sword at him (which could have been slightly more dangerous than before it was broken, as the end was now sharp, the wood splintered). "Avass! Avass!!! Give it back you scurvy lamb-lobber!" she commanded lividly; though even she suspected her stature made her slightly less threatening than any average-size pirate, she had to try.
Good person or bad person, no one but she was allowed to touch her daddy's hat.

“Oh, that’s the second half,” Rucran exclaimed, he was a little embarrassed to note that he hadn’t really been listening.
He was about to reach down for the other half of the sword when he noticed Karimi standing still. The young muse jumped back instinctive.
“Boy, I seem to have bad luck when it comes to hats,” he thought.
True enough, the little girl exploded in a flurry of protest. The nurse laughed as he put a hand on Karimi’s head to keep her at arm’s length. He didn’t fancy being gutted by the wooden sword. The splinters will hurt more than the wound.
“Hold it, little sprite,” Ruc said as he dropped the hat on the green-haired lass’ head.
“I am sorry I didn’t realize it’s yours. Would a little pizza and ice cream make it up to you?”
Karimi calling him a “lamb-lobber” made him realize just how hungry he was. He hadn’t eaten lamb in ages, but he doubt children would enjoy kebabs much. On the plus side, Lugi’s was probably the only place that didn’t mind him walking in smelling like a tramp.
“How does that sound, Lovai?” He asked, unwilling to let go of Karimi just yet. His hand was still on her head beneath the hat.

"Sounds good to me," Lovai replied, still watching Karimi with increasing interest. Though he wasn't about to admit it he was getting more and more nervous of this place, empty as it was. Maybe that was the problem; it was dark and he felt as though he was being watched. He grinned at Rucran, "Got a place in mind?"

Huffing, Karimi lowered her broken sword and crossed her arms, glare-pouting at Rucran as she ceased her struggling. The overlarge hat fell in front of her eyes and she reached up to push it back up.
"I've had kebabs!" she proclaimed happily upon hearing the thought pass through his mind. "I don't know if they were lamb, though.... Ms. Ren used to make them before Janx blew up the oven on Daddy's ship."
She frowned. "I guess pizza is okay, though, if you can only get pizza when you smell funny. And ice cream, too," she added with a note of finality; after trying to steal her hat, she wouldn't be letting Rucran get away without at least getting her ice cream. "Is the town that way?" she asked, pointing in the direction in which she could hear the most people; it was still vague and a little quiet, so it was difficult to discern one person's train of thought from the next, but there certainly were a lot of people that way.

Rucran blinked a little but didn't comment. Mind reading would prove to be convenient later, he decided. He was glad Karimi was more vocal about it. He removed his hand from her head and nodded.
"Yup, and Lugi's is somewhere along that street." He replied.
"We could get ice cream and a bottle of perfume along the way, if you don't mind," he added sheepishly.
The half elf proceed to retrieve his skateboard and gave the other two a nod before he began walking down a side alley. If he remembered correctly, they would most likely exit right outside that bogus jewelry shop. Not that he minded. The man sold really good glass which he used to make his contact lenses.
