Matsu raised his gun, stepping forward. "I'll warn you, we're advised to shoot for the central mass if disabling isn't an option." He was nervous enough, but his hands remained steady. "All struggling is going to get you is a few extra holes in your body."
He kept his aim steady for the right side of the man's chest. Puncturing a lung would be more than enough to discourage him, if it became necessary.
He would be sure to ask about this one before he left the hospital--all of the patients should be properly restrained. This one obviously wasn't restrained as well as even old man Lugi had been, and that old man hadn't seemed nearly as threatening.

Edward held up both hands calmly. His eyes never leaving B's face. "Look, don't need to get rough. I'm just having a little fun with Mr. Elfy."
"Friendly banter won't hurt nobody. Right, Mr. Elfy?"
Rucran climbed out from below the table and stood up. He looked at Edward for awhile and considered his answer. He didn't want to antagonize the patient because he had a feeling he might be seeing the man for a long time to come.
"Erm... It did sound scary."
Edward laughed till tears rolled down his cheeks. "You hear that Officer? The Elf isn't dumb. He knows I haven't tasted elven meat before..."
The half elf grimaced. "I'm half elf."
"Good, a new type of meat. Oh goody good."
Edward continued laughing as he began muttering to himself. Occasionally he'll slap himself as he began talking more and more incoherently. Rucran stepped back slowly before turning around and running out of the room. He didn't even bother emptying the contents of the pan into the toilet. He doubt the bones could be flushed anyway.

It took Matsu a moment to realize that Rucran had run out of the room. He frowned at the muttering man and backed out of the room as well, gun still drawn, keeping his eyes on this Edward fellow. He shut the door quickly after him once he was out in the hallway, stowing his gun back in its holster and locking the door again.
"I'll have to report this at the front desk," Matsu said with a sigh. "Everyone is supposed to be well-restrained, but I think he probably could have gotten loose..."
He headed over to the next door. They unfortunately weren't finished yet... Matsu looked over at Rucran as he unlocked the door. "Well, can ya go another round?" He attempted a reassuring smile, but it felt like a rather weak attempt. Matsuda wasn't very much looking forward to this himself. He opened the door and, hand on the gun, he stepped inside.

Rucran was sitting with his back against the wall of the cell. The bones scattered all around him. He nodded jerkily. His heart was going at triple speed. He held up his hand as he made a failed attempt at making a victory sign. It wouldn’t stop shaking. This was the last time he’ll ever laugh at name Edward. Basil can continue with her Twilight jokes for all she wants, he was off it.
“We are still alive,” Rucran said.
He seriously meant it. The half elf got up unsteadily to his feet and began picking up the bones. He emptied it into the trash bag and shoved it under the trolley. There was no way he was going back again.
He picked up the clipboard as they stopped outside the next cell. A painful, high-pitched whine came from inside followed by a lot of restless scratching. Something gnashed its teeth and rammed against the wall. Then there was total silence.
Rucran lowered the clipboard. “The roster only mentioned that this guy was hospitalized because of serious dog bites.”
He grimaced as he reached for another clean bedpan. “I hope it isn’t rabies.”
Deep down, he knew it definitely wasn’t rabies. He didn’t want to enter yet.
“Heard anything about this patient?” He asked weakly.
“Please tell me he was charged with embezzlement.”
He gritted his teeth when he heard the sound of something scrapping against the metal wall. There was a slight pause before the scrapping started again. Heavy metal chains clinked noisily.

Matsu shook his head he looked out the open door at Rucran. "Rabies don't outwardly effect people like they do animals," he said quietly, slowly. Gun held in front of him, he stepped along the wall, and into the room.
His stomach turned.
A man--no, a wolf--some sort of animal was chained in here, and seemed to be steadily changing, howling in agony, scratching the walls. Matsu looked back at Rucran, keeping his gun on the creature, vaguely aware of what he was seeing but hardly willing to accept the reality of it.
"I don't think they were dog bites," Matsu said quietly. "Wh--what are we supposed to do, report--oh..."
One chain snapped from the wall. Matsuda edged along the wall back towards the door. This situation could become dangerous very quickly, very quickly.

"Matsu-?" Rucran squeaked.
The half elf's eyes widened as he noticed the chain breaking from the wall. He stepped away from the door and gulped. How were they going to fix this? They can't let the patient loose.
"Matsu, hurry up?" He said in a hurried whisper that sounded more like a hiss.
A deep throated growl came from the huddled mess of fur and bleeding flesh on the ground. The patient stopped quivering and snorted. His breathing echoed loudly in the cell. Rucran can't help but get the impression that it sounded like a monstrously large canine sniffing the air. Definitely smaller than Yuu-chan, but size does not guarantee how deadly it can be. It had a powerful back that's for sure. His mouth rounded to form a silent 'oh' as something finally occurred to him.
"It - it's a werewolf."
Deep down the half elf started chiding himself. Of course anyone can see that it was a werewolf! God, he needed to stop thinking that he was a student and therefore safe from the more dangerous patients. This wasn't MU! The message can't get any clearer than this - you either flounder or drown while interning here.

Werewolves... there wasn't anything about this in his training! Should he treat this like a mad human or a mad dog? Both? How could he possibly treat it as both? Matsu closed his eyes for a moment, but only a moment, to gain his composure. When he opened them, the creature's glowing eyes were on him.
Mad humans and mad dogs... it wasn't advisable to make any sudden moves around either, that was for certain. If Matsu was going to get out of this alive, and maybe, just maybe with all of his limbs still intact, he was going to have to be careful about this. Keep his eyes on it. It was at least in part human, so there was the slightest chance that it might be able to understand him.
"Hey, look... s-sorry for bothering you, but we--that's me and the intern outside the room--we were just here to check up on you, all right, buddy?"
Snap, snarl, snap. If he could understand, he certainly wasn't interested in offering any insight. What else had Matsu expected, for the beast to straighten itself out, apologize, and promise to try not to gnaw Rucran's arms off when he tried to change the bedpan? He could somehow envision the thing doing so with a rather corny English accent.
Wearing a monocle and a top hat.
Laughter was the first step to hysterics in a situation like this, so he faked a sneeze to cover it.
Snarl.
"A--all right, I guess some other time, then?" Matsu said, taking a careful step back. He gave a nervous laugh. "You know, when you're not a bloodthirsty monster?"
Keeping the same slow pace, he continued to back towards the door, glancing over his shoulder to keep from backing straight into a wall but barely breaking his eyes from the wolf. One more lunge and it would be totally free from its rather inadequate restraints, trailing the chains along behind it as it lunged for him. There was of course his gun, still in his hand, safety off, but weren't silver bullets supposed to be the only thing that killed them? That's what most of the stories said, at least.
Just as a picture of the Tipperary PD standing over a pile of blood and flesh and blue rags that were his remains began to form in his mind, the wolf gave one last lunge. The last chain snapped.
Matsu stumbled backwards, out the door, and slammed it shut--the creature hit the door with a loud thud. It had undoubtedly been aiming for him. After fumbling with the keys for a moment, he locked the door.
"I think we need to get out of here pretty fast," he said, keeping his eyes on the keys so he wouldn't drop them. "Let someone at the front desk know that they weren't just 'serious dog bites' and something needs to be done. I don't know if that door's strong enough to hold him or not, and I don't want to stick around to find out either." Matsu pocketed the keys and looked at Rucran. "Let's get going."
And he started off for the exit out of Ward A.

Rucran gave the shuddering door one last look. He was reassured. The thick steel walls seem strong enough to withstand almost anything save a high impact explosion. Explosions that Amelia was capable of creating should she ever check in here and wish to skip paying the bill.
The half elf followed after the police officer at a brisk trot as he pushed the trolley. He was feeling much happier now that it was finally time for his break. He refused to let his next task bother him. He will think about it when the time came.
“Should we go for that cup of cocoa? I’m famished and I don’t fancy eating alone.”
Famished was a big understatement. Rucran was pretty sure he would be having triple servings of the dinner set meal later. And maybe an extra slice of the sinfully rich devil’s cake. He better find some real food tomorrow before his shift. The stuff in Amelia’s fridge was hardly appetizing. Considering that the jam jar was beside a huge jar of nitroglycerine.

"I think so. I could at least go for some cocoa," Matsu replied. His stomach was twisted into a knot, so he probably would be eating, but the cocoa might help his nerves. He could certainly use something to calm his nerves after that last room; the snarling, snapping, and banging sounds from further down the hallway made him shudder a little as he opened to door leading out of Ward A.
"We just need to stop by the front desk on our way out. I'd like to ask them why I was told everyone would be safely restrained," he said, thinking of the Hannibal copycat. "... And inform someone that their dog-bite victim was really a werewolf bite victim." He laughed nervously. "Werewolves... I'm glad there aren't any in my world." Then, thoughtfully, he added, "I don't think so, anyway..."
He did stop when they came upon the reception area, and the middle-age, kind-faced nurse behind the desk acted quite genuinely surprised at his report. She also didn't protest that they hadn't finished with Ward A before going straight to her phone and dialing away.
"I think," Matsu said quietly, "that we should go get that cocoa before she gets off the phone and tells us we have to finish up with Ward A. I really don't feel like seeing what else is in there."All I can say is that my life is pretty plain I like watching the puddles gather rain And all I can do is just pour some tea for two And speak my point of view, but it's not sane male // 25 // 5’10” // human // Hyun Bin No Rain © Blind Melon post format by xDawnie

(Hope no one minds if I pop in...seeing as no one's currently using the thread.... ._.)
A tiny woman stood in the lab, surrounded by beakers. Her exceedingly long black hair was pulled out of her face as she leant over, mixing chemicals and making notes. This virus was...incredible. She'd never seen anything like it! Neither had the hospital, apparently, for why else would they have called her.
Kai paused a moment at that thought. She was supposed to be spending the day with her daughter; that's what she'd told her husband, anyway, before he went off to mess with that silly shop. However, she couldn't turn down such an incredible request like this! She was certain Marcus would understand. Well...she hoped he would. She understood about all his flings and his ridiculous candy obsession, after all.
She turned her focus back to the virus, watching it mutate under her microscope. So fascinating...so beautiful, this tiny world around them. Without wasting another moment, she began to craft an antivirus.

(-bounce- Rae! ^^ *happy to see the hospital thread moving again*)
“Beautiful isn’t it?”
One of the nurses was sitting with her legs crossed on the table behind Kai. She took a huge bite out of the apple she was holding, completely ignoring the sign prohibiting the consumption of food in the lab. The black haired girl continued crunching in an annoying fashion. Her eyes twinkled in amusement as she waited to see if her friend recognized her.
“They said that this was extracted from a mummified body. Imagine that! A virus surviving even after hundreds of years underground!”
She took another bite. “Potent even in small doses, but with a 24-hour delay. That’s what made it perfect.”
A shiny red fingernail tapped the file on the tap. She spread the papers out to have a better look at the full medical reports. The nurse snorted with laughter.
“Food poisoning suspected? Of course it has to be, the virus had to be transmitted through fluids. Bet you’ve figured that much out already, right Kai?” She teased.

(BASIL! =D Woot!)
Kai didn't so much as look up from her notes. "You're right," she said offhandly. "The only question remains: why bother to unleash it, Amelia? It's so highly contagious, after all."
She looked up, knowing she looked nothing like a regular lab tech in her usual long, deep green dress. She eyed her friend in a somber manner for a long moment before breaking into a bright grin. "Have you done something knew to your hair? It looks lovely."

(-flomp-)
“Money. I have to earn a living too. And the rest were far too squeamish to do it.”
She shrugged. “Not to be callous, but this is a hospital. People are bound to sicken and die every day.”
Amelia shrugged as she studied her current form closely in the metallic surface the table she sat on. Positively Asiatic. Black hair, black eyes, the typical bone structure. Overall, not a very pretty girl, but quite cute. She frowned as she undid her ponytail, and shifted back into something more comfortable – her default self. She definitely preferred being a brunette.
She tossed her head back letting her bangs press against her eyes. She was back to her medium length hair, but it wasn’t the typical straight cut. Her hair was longest towards her left side and sloped upwards ending at her shoulders. The shapeshifter’s lips curled upwards to form a feral smile. She loved showing off the ruby stud embedded in her right canine.
“Only a woman would notice this,” Amelia said with exaggerated relief as she tossed her hair again. “Men are such bores. Male colleagues are the worse.”

"But there is a difference between people sickening and people being murdered," Kai said significantly, more worried about her friend than the people.
The tiny woman mixed two compounds together and tested it against a tiny swab of virus. Looking through her microscope, she smiled. There...that was markedly better, though most of the virus still seemed very much alive. She started again, glad to have even mild progress this quickly. Taking a sterile needle, she drew a small amount of her blood and measured it out into seperate vials before drawing runes on each vial and waiting.
Kai laughed softly. "Men...do they not know we could rule the world if we wanted to?"

[The Lab]
“There is,” Amelia agreed. “But not every doctor is aware of it. A virus is not … how do you say this…”
The shapeshifter rubbed her chin as she pretended to ponder her answer. “Yes, it’s not a very conventional murder weapon.”
She kicked her legs to and fro as she watched Kai study the sample under the microscope. Sooner or later there would be a cure, she was certain of it. Not that it bothered her. Her mark was probably standing before the pearly white gates, whether he would proceed to paradise or not was another question altogether.
“Will it be a vaccine?” She asked.
There wasn’t much to do on this evening, so she might as well hang around. Kai might like to go out for a drink or two later. Who knows? Things are a lot more exciting when one’s drunk.
-------------------------------------------------
[Ward A]
A piercing scream came from the cell containing patient #3879. The psychic was huddled in a corner. Pieces of the baby doll were scattered around the room. Her brown sunken eyes were bulging. She pointed to the blonde boy standing in front of her. Her hand shook.
“Y-y-you ate her!” She shrieked. “Ate her.”
“Hardly,” the child answered in a bored tone. “It is all part of the act.”
“Liar! Lies! Filthy lies.”
“Maybe.”
The kidling reached for the center of his head with his thumb and index finger pressed firmly together. Slowly he drew them downwards as though he was pulling an imaginary zipper. His skin began separating. By the time he reached his neck, the left half of his face fell off to reveal the person underneath his skin. Still he continued unzipping his skin. The woman turned pale. She seemed sickened by the act. She covered her eyes with her fingers, but part of her still seemed perversely fascinated.
