Right on the edge of the mist that obscures the Bridge stands a house that sends chills down the spines of even the most hardened muse. Some say the last occupants were killed by their own fear. Others say they were dragged into whatever the mist obscures. There are even those who suggest they never got the chance to leave at all... So explore if you like, almost all the inhabitants of the city have been here once in their youth, but whatever you get out before the sun goes down. Go home and hide under the covers of your bed. Or you might just find out what happened here all those years ago...

"Was it meant to be this dark and creepy?" Sparrow muttered, looking paranoidly around. They'd been walking through endless mist for hours now and had only just come out in the shadow of a large, decrepit-looking house.
"Theresa is behind it," Reaver said as if it explained everything. "Naturally, it is. And here I thought, you living with her your entire life and whatnot, you would have known that."
Sparrow frowned at Reaver, for once not having a witty retort--a thing which grately worried Reaver, to be sure, for that meant something was wrong with the bloody gypsy.
"Well, come along, dear boy," the pirate added, jauntily making his way to the house's front door with an affectionate murmur of: "Minions these days...."
"I heard that!" Sparrow rushed after him, his ponytail swinging slightly as he did so. Cursing the pirate king's name, he followed him into the house.
Neither of them stopped to wonder why the creepy house they'd been asked to go to was unlocked.

[The Dining Room]
Long, bony fingers stroked the cloth covering what appears to be body on the dining table. Having removed every crease possible, the fingers began tapping on the table the impatiently. The loud crackle of electricity was followed by a harsh yelp. The owner began rubbing his boney arm. He growled, revealing sharp, jagged teeth.
“You are very much at my mercy,” Philippe retorted jovially once the shock subsided. “There is nothing we can do, but hope that Zecher finds whatever it is that we will need to fix you.”
White light began pulsating from a distant corner of the room. It blinked rapidly turning a neon red before stopping. The slender, zombie-like creature shrugged in response. “It is not like you can’t speak without a body. Why bother with such mind games, Pye?”
The gramophone crank began turning slowly, picking up momentum. A soft voice issued from its depths sending dust spewing everywhere. It was barely audible over the sound of the pin grating the surface of the turntable. “I need.”
There was a long pause before the disembodied voice continued a little louder than it was previously. “- a medium.”
“Hence our little experiment,” Philippe concluded for his invisible friend.
[Outside]
A black hooded figure stood in front of the main door. He was tiny, barely the height of a small child even when he stood on his hind legs. A cheeky smile crept up his hidden, furry lips. Looks like the visit to the junkyard will have to wait. He was sure he heard voices. Taking a deep breath, he adjusted himself till he was comforted and waited. To the unsuspecting visitor, he would appear to be a miniature grim reaper statue complete with a tiny scythe.
“This was going to be fun!” He thought.
[Hope the post is okay >< ... I am half asleep when I wrote this.]

Just as Sparrow was crossing the threshold, he felt something catch his ankle. Cursing, he fell flat on his face with as much grace as a sack of potatoes. He rolled onto his back, still cursing, and rubbed at his booted foot.
"What's so funny?" Sparrow growled, leaning his head back to look at his companion when Reaver chuckled.
"Oh, nothing," the currently upside down pirate retorted, good humor clogging his self-satisfied tone. "I just never thought one so apparently skilled in footwork, would ever find themself bested by, of all things, a statue."
The gypsy glared, slowly getting to his feet, and cast the "statue" a malevolent look. "Bloody statue."
Annoyed, he kicked the door shut behind them, earning a look from Reaver. Yeah, yeah, whatever. He knew it was bad manners to kick doors, but he didn't give a hopping hobbe at the moment.
"Le's split up, eh?" Sparrow muttered, annoyed. "Faster we find this damn thing, the faster we get home where I won't be assaulted by statues." That wasn't completely true, there were some rather mobile statues back in Albion with some impressive cognative abilities. "I'll take this floor."
"Try not to find yourself ravaged by a painting, love," Reaver cooed teasingly, mounting the stairs. Maybe he could find something valuable to take home as payment.
Sparrow, on the other hand aimlessly wandered the ground floor and tried not to imagine what it would look like if a painting tried to have its way with him.

[Ground Floor]
Zecher darted from one portrait to the next as he tried to keep pace with the absent minded human. Whenever the man glanced in his direction, he would pretend to be one of the occupants. The raccoon soon grew bored trying to attract the other’s attention.
Remembering his reaper suit, the devious critter grinned. Wisps began formed in the hallway. They joined together forming a black mass. The dark accumulation slowly molded itself into a black hooded cape. The ghostly figure waited till Sparrow passed it before this other worldly creature began drifting alongside the man. A clawed finger reached out and tapped Sparrow gently on the shoulder as the two companions were about to reach the stairs Reaver had mounted earlier. The reaper then cackled and vanished into thin air. Zecher remained invisible as he observed the Sparrow in silent amusement. Anticipation mounted. Now comes the fun bit. Dramatic, but fun. At least it should be in theory.
[Second Floor]
Pye drifted down the hall. Being a mass of energy, no human could see it. Not that that mattered in a deserted house. Back at Musehatten there was always the constant bother of having to avoid people or risk electrocuting them. It relished this unexpected freedom. Free from wires and the confines of the computers.
Random sparks and crackling filled the air as its mood soared. The ancient light bulbs began to blink erratically in response to the stray energy released into the hall ahead. Now all it had to do was be patient. Philippe was the best anatomist around. He would be able to create the perfect body. Then they can continue with the investigation. The closer the conglomeration got to the stairs the brighter the bulbs just ahead of it. Many of them burst as it passed by. The smell of charred wire was left in its wake.

Sparrow felt something like a hand descend upon his shoulder and he froze. He hadn't heard any footsteps. Oh no. I tol them zombie ghosts are real! They're after my brain! Jumping to conclusions, Sparrow let out an ear piercing shriek and went running back the way he came.
---
Reaver had been inspecting a vase at the top of the stairs when he heard Sparrow scream. Instinctively, he looked up...and then rolled his eyes. Could they go nowhere without Sparrow getting into trouble?
Not a minute later, he felt something hard crash into him and he and Sparrow had both fallen ass over tea kettle into a tangled heap on the dusty ground.
Cursing, Reaver gave his friend a sharp kick and freed himself. "What," he began dangerously, "were you thinking, throwing yourself at me so?"
Any other time, he would have made an innuendo, but the vase he'd been looking at had broken in the fall; and now, on top of being dusty and tired, he was also bleeding.
"The zombies are out to get me!"
"Nonsense, Sparrow. We haven't seen a single hollow man yet."
Sparrow just clung to Reaver's leg.
