At long last, we finally give you the update for the magic element of Temecula. ^_^
Elements of Magic
Consist of Elemental Magic; Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind, Light and Dark.
In the cycle of power; Elemental beats Light, Light beats Dark, and Dark beats Elemental.
Users of one of these three forms of magic will have a natural weakness to the element that bests their mastery.
i.e. Dark users will have a naturally low resistance to Light magic. Elemental users have a natural weakness to Dark magic, etc. etc.
After much debating and consideration, we have decided it would be best to simplify Elemental magic into just four forms. These are, as listed above, Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind.
Elemental magic has its own power cycle with Earth beating Water, Water beating Fire, Fire beating Wind, and Wind beating Earth.
Earth is the most sturdiest and slowest of the four Elemental magic. It makes up for this with sheer power and size. Masters of Earth magic can manipulate the foundations of the world to their will. However, Earth magic is fairly new among the magic community. The older and more ancient races, such as the Elves and Fairies, have used it far longer than the others and have mastered, and formed, their own branch of it. It is weak to Wind, but strong against Water.
Fire is the most basic and well used Elemental of the four. Almost feral, wild and hot, it is an Element to take caution with. It burns and sears and the masters of this Element are forces to be reckoned with. However (like all the elements of magic), Fire has a weakness. It is weak to Water, but strong against Wind.
Water, some believe, is to be life itself flowing through the world. Plants and animals and civilizations alike depend on it for their survival. Users of water manipulate the flow of this life stream of Nature. Despite its seemingly gentle appearance and life giving qualities, a number of people understand of its more violent side. Water is a temperamental element when disturbed and, with one wave, sweep away entire towns or, given time, erase the foundations of lands. Water can quench Fire, but, given its liquid nature, conforms to/is weak against Earth.
Wind is the fastest, but weakest, Element of the four. Users of this Element can manipulate the very movement of the air around them. Seemingly invisible and, at times, soft, do not underestimate this ethereal Element. When the conditions are right, Wind can transform from a gentle breeze to a howling storm. Wind is weak to Fire, but strong against Earth.
Light is most commonly used among those in the religious order. Nearly all of Temecula’s races believe Light to be the Goddess’ divine power that she, herself, taught her children to wield. Because nearly every Temeculan worships the Goddess, they view Light as a naturally divine and angelic power. Some even go to believe that Light magic is superior all the other five elements. However, these statements are frowned upon by many mages as they disprove of the fact that the elements of magic “take sides.” Light is weak to Elemental, but strong against Dark.
Dark, despite its ominous name, is not evil or malevolent. Of all the six elements, Dark is the most misunderstood of them all. Many people have come to believe that Dark is a blasphemy against the Goddess personified, and that users of Dark magic are heretics. Its users often face prejudice, even from users of the other elements, and the populace fears its power. Despite the words of scholars and wise mages informing the people that their fear of Dark magic is nothing but superstitions, religious orders around Temecula encourage this bigotry against Dark and its users. Dark is weak against Light, but strong against Elemental magic.
Healing, a highly specialized branch of magic, entirely dedicated to easing the suffering of others. Users of it are usually held in the highest esteem of any mages, and are usually referred to as Healers instead. completely non offensive. It is neither weak nor strong to any other element. often studied by priests and priestesses in service to the Goddess.
NOTE! We will like to stress that NONE of the elements of magic actually take sides and NONE of them are cursed or evil. The elements are neutral by nature; it is the user of magic and their deeds that define the boundary of good and evil.
How the Races use magic :
General: For all races You are either born with the talent or you are not. Fairies and Elves the ability to use magic is more common than it is amongst humans this is balanced by the humans ability to learn to wield a wider variety of weapons than either Elves or Fairies.
Humans : They must use Tomes and Staves for all magic. The ability is a bit rare and requires much study and training to master, for that reason the talent is usually identified in children so the training can begin as soon as possible.
Elves: to be determined later
Fairies : The ability to use magic is very common amongst them. They require no Medium for Fairy magic but do require Tomes and above for true earth magic. Fairy magic is worked through a Fairy's insect like wings.
Temeculan Born Cybertronians : Magic use is very rare and has only emerged fully in the newest generation, Namely the Prince and Princess of Destron. They require Tomes or better to wield magic and require the same amount of study as humans.
NonTemeculan Born Cybertronians : Cannot wield magic at all.
Resistance to magic :
Humans: if they can wield magic they have good resistance if not they they are fairly vulnerable to it.
Elves: high magic resistance all around, with the highest levels in those who master the magical arts.
Fairies: depends on the element. High to Wind and Earth, very weak to Fire magic.
Temeculan Born Cybertronians : Very weak against magic , although the Prince and Princess may have higher resistance but this has yet to be tested.
Non Temeculan Born Cybertronians : No resistance at all, The Matrix of Leadership can help with this however in they have Primus' favor.
Special Magic talents based on race :
Humans : none but they tend to be more comfortable with any element of magic than other races even though they focus on only one element.
Elves: details to be determined
Fairies: Fairy magic by its very nature is non violent, but they do have spells that allow them to cause distractions or conditions to aid them in fleeing to safety. The also have a long history of using healing magic. Those fairies of the royal bloodline can wield the only true fairly attack spell. Fairy magic tied to the earth element.
Temeculan Born Cybertronians : None thus far.
Non Temeculan Born Cybertronians : does not apply.
Mediums of magic use:
Tomes: Each is bound to a single element and comes in three strengths and skill levels:
Novice: The most basic of Magic Tomes , these are used by children while learning to hone their gifts, weak but easy to use. still potentially dangerous if used skillfully. cheap and easy to use. very durable
Apprentice: used by students of magic in their teenage years after the basics are mastered and they have moved on to more advanced magic. inexpensive and moderately strong. decently durable.
Master: the highest level of Magic Tome and the most expensive, usually passed down from master to Apprentice upon completion of training , rare to seein the market place. difficult to use, also has the lowest durability. quite powerful, Standard issue in many kingdom's armies.
Earth, Fire, Wind and Water Tomes are openly traded in all kingdoms.
Light Tomes, Illeagal to sell in most kingdoms as they are considered sacred as they are believed to carry the words of the Goddess and are loaned to those found worthy to use them to be returned upon graduation to wands or staves.
Dark Tomes: never sold openly as the misunderstanding about the nature of dark magic has made the users secretive. These Tomes are passed down from master to apprentice almost exclusively. very rarely does one show up on the black market and they are very expensive when they do.
Healing Tomes: These aren't particulary rare but are held in such esteem that they aren't sold in the open market as the healer's art is considered sacred. Occasionaly found in the black market. Usually passed down from Master to Apprentice.
Wands : Bound to single element. The next level in magic mastery, often seen in use by mage officers of middle rank in armies. Requires years of addtional years of study to advance from Tomes to wands, some never make the jump. Rarer than most Tomes and sell for high prices, often passed down in families of mages. Strong magic but not durable.
Staves: The highest level of magic use the majority of mages obtain, requires many years of training and experience to make the jump to staves. Used by High ranking Mage officers. very strong magic but quite frail. Usually crafted by the Mage themselves, and often buried with them when they die which is why they are very seldom seen for sale. Bound to a single element.
Bare hands: The total mastery of the magical arts, only a very few ever make it to this level. It requires total dedication to ones training over the course of a lifetime to obtain such a skill level. Spells are at there strongest but the caster generally cannot often cast the most powerful spells very often due to the effort required, weaker spells cause less of a drain of the Mage's body.
This Information is subject to change if anything is decided that requires changes in the magic set up. If you have any questions post them here or contact Writer and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Note: Writer and I teamed up for this so 1/2 credit goes to him.
