Callier smiled a little, shrugging the shoulder not trapped against the bed with the weight of her wings.
"I've never made friends very easily." She pointed out lightly, then her smile slipped a little, tone turning sad. "There were others but most of them are dead." She sighed. "Perhaps Lura or Andy. Alex and Atach. But they all had their own problems." She smiled faintly. "As, I assume, did you."

Phoenix slid down the wall, one arm wrapped round his abdomen as he continued to stifle his laughter. "I think," he managed between gulps of air, "having a problem is part of a muse's contract." He wiped away a tear of myrth from the corner of his eye, and the white concealer with it though it didn't show up against his finger. "I mean, what kind of writer wants a muse who's sane? Far too boring. Or maybe one has to be loopy to put up with them." He made a larger effort to stop his laughter, "I'm sorry; I'm fine. And I'm very sad really, honest." He pulled a long face but this only made him laugh louder afterwards. "Seriously..." he began as he calmed himself, "I'm fine. That never happened." He watched her from the floor. "We're as bad as each other."

Callier smiled, his laughter washing warmly over her.
"You should see some of the younger ones." She told him, feeling strangely gossipy. "And even if they come in sane this place messes with their heads soon enough." She shifted, wings rustling behind her again. "At least we can fight back when we're attacked."

"This place has no rhyme or reason to it," Phoenix agreed, "How can it with so many cultures and technologies mixing together? It does people's heads in," he said, shaking his own slowly, "It certainly did in mine.
"I don't suppose there are many of the old group around here now. I certainly shan't be frequenting this place much anymore, though I will still visit occasionally," he added quickly, glancing at his friend, "maybe once every few months or something. To catch up on the old crowd."
He watched his friend for a while, "Do you know any of the younger ones? I'm afraid I know none of them save my own replacement.
"Not that I care," he added under his breath.

Callier smiled faintly.
"I know some of them," she admitted. "There are rather a lot. Some more competent and some more damaged than others. Though there doesn't seem to be any kind of correlation between the two."
She considered for a moment before answering his first question.
"The others are still around sometimes. Alex, evidently. Andy. Lura and Atach," she smiled faintly. "Though I haven't seen any of them lately."

Phoenix raised an eyebrow, "Really? I don't think I've seen Lura or Atach for," he exhaled as he thought, "almost a year. Though of course she may have come back during my absence?" He stretched, catlike along the floor and up the wall. "You must excuse me," he said, without meaning what he said, "I am unused to generations moving on... or at least not to them moving on so quickly."
He pondered her first statement, "In my experience the two conditions aren't mutually exclusive... not always at any rate."
