Weapons, weapons, weapons. They're sort of important in Temecula, since not everyone's going to be friendly. But I did notice in the Mediums of Magic discussion that we need to sort out one thing dealing with weapons, and that would be the subject of custom weapons.
A lot of people want custom weapons for their characters, which we definitely need to talk about. I think custom/unique weapons are okay; I've got... I believe two characters with custom weapons, though one of them is more just a keepsake than a weapon in and of itself. The other, indeed, is a genuine weapon. So this definitely effects me.
I think custom weapons are all right, and that everyone should be entitled to one, as it's otherwise unfair to the characters. But I do think each character should be permitted to only one custom/unique weapon, with the understanding that this weapon, like any other weapon, is capable of breaking in the middle of a fight. However, custom weapons would be the only weapons that can be repaired by someone like a blacksmith, and therefore it will also be important for our characters to buy standard-grade weapons from shops, so that they can balance out the use of their custom weapon with these when they can't make it to a town with a blacksmith for awhile. Not to mention, as some of our characters may be proficient in more than one type of weapon, it gives them some variety, since you'd only have the one custom weapon.
Those are just my thoughts, though. Any other thoughts that anyone has on the system we might use for custom weapons, just post below so everyone can discuss. We're always open to ideas.
