The stone town of Sayons was founded around a large, sweeping bay perfectly positioned as a depot for trading ships coming from the S,E & W. Behind it, roads spread out into the mainland like threads of a spider’s web. The oldest part of the town is found at the edge of the bay – a place of narrow streets and tall buildings - but now, as ships grew larger and could no longer reach the shallows, the city has spread out into the bay on stilts, thus bringing the docks to the ships in deeper water. This artificial land of wood is home to the most up market squares and shops and is nearly always bustling. The other side of the city has just started venturing up into the hills about a mile away from the coast.
Though built to be an exchange for goods such as textiles and food, inevitably fugitives gravitate towards Sayons. It is said that all residents are either descended from fugitives or are on the run themselves.
