We have gotten a lot of input on various weapons and we have considered it and and decided to put out this handy post to show all that needs to be known for weapons in Telemcula to better aid you in character development.
First the weapon Triangle Swords best Axes, Axes best Lances, Lances best Swords.
There are also what we shall call the specialized weapons, these include bows and daggers which are not subject to the triangle.
Weapon grades : all weapons in Telemcula come in various grades these are detailed below.
Bronze: dirt cheap but durable, used by the poorest of Telemcula, not strong but effective even in unskilled hands. Often found in use by poor farmers and by brigands and thieves until they can get something better.
Iron: Cheap, Durable and easy to use, very common amongst the townsfolk and merchants.
Steel: strong, reliable and affordable the standard grade of weapons issued to the soldiers found in armies though out Telemcula.
Silver: very strong , owned primarily by the nobility and officers in an army. expensive and low number of uses before repair or replacement needed.
personal /enchanted weapons : these are usually either gifts or family heirlooms, there actually strength in battle can vary widely. will not break but can wear out and be unusable until repaired. At this time only personal weapons are allowed as the enchantment processes have to be worked out.
Weapon types
Swords: Broadsword, long sword, any European type is just fine, any other will need clearance from the Telemcula mods.
Mainly a melee weapon used by skilled warriors with a good mix of skill and strength. , but some are enchanted as to throw bolts of weak magic at foes at a distance.
Axes: battle, throwing, dual bladed, Hammers, Maces basically any Axe like weapon used in Europe is good. Axes are a melee weapon primarily and used by powerfully built men and women. Throwing Axes are also allowed, any other bladed non Axe throwing weapon will need approval.
Lances: Lances, Spears, Javelins, basically any European non Axe bladed pole arm, These are weapons used by both mounted calvary and heavily armored Knights afoot, they require considerable skill and some require considerable strength. Spears and javelins maybe thrown at distant foes.
Specialized weapons: Basically any weapon that doesn't fit in the weapon triangle.
Bows: a beautiful weapon that requires great skill to use well, ranges from simple hunting bows up to great long bows. cannot be used for melee combat.
Crossbows: a bow like weapon that requires less skill to use but is more expensive, usually only seen in armies or in use by former soldiers.
Daggers/Knives: short blades melee weapons used by thieves and rouges, also often found as a weapon of last resort carried by other classes. some magic users have developed slight skills with them. Some can be thrown but this requires exceptional skill to be accurate. varies from the simple knife stolen from a kitchen to purpose built knives for combat.
Mundane Staves: Any staff designed for Melee combat and not spell casting. The come in for types:
Wood: the cheapest and weakest and probably the most common as they can be made by almost any one.
Bronze: stronger and more expensive then wood, requires considerable skill to make so they are less common.
Ivory: made from the tusks of certain creatures. Strong and light, expensive and not very durable.
Mythril: made from a very rare type of Silver, there are few mines that produce it and it requires great skills to work with it, these are very few in number and very expensive. Powerful and lighter than one would expect.
Magic Staves will be covered in the magic update which will come in time.
Other: these are any other types of weapons we decide to allow.
Weapons that aren't allowed : Firearms, any sci fi weapons, flame throwers, any medieval weapon of non European origin unless given mod approval.more to be added as they come up.
These are meant to be more guidelines than restrictions, if you wish to use a weapon that doesn't fit the guide lines and isn't in one of the first 3 categories of the non allowed list Please post all pertinent information here along with your request and we will consider it and post our decision.
