We all know all of his works are really good... but selecting as to which is best among them may be a little difficult to decide on. You can talk about your favorite Miyazaki films here.

I guess I'll go first then.
My personal favorite is Princess Mononoke (Mononoke Hime).
Why this one?
Well, other than the amazing, heartfelt, story, the gods and spirits, the beautiful songs, the tough-as-nails woman, and the hot main character. . . I've bought this film three times and have yet to regret it. ^.^
Anyone else like Mononoke? Or disagree with me?

=) Princess Mononoke! I watched that one with my bro. I loved the music too! Haha... found a vocaloid rendition of it. Miku... *coughs* Sorry... off topic. Not too sure which song it was. @.@ *fails*
Personally, I prefer Spirited Away and The Cat Returns <3. Spirited Away was simply touching. Though the ending was a bit of a let down after how the story builds up. Half way through watching Kiki's Delivery Service. Just finished Howl's Moving Castle.
Howl's Moving Castle was interesting. It was quite different from the book, but I didn't mind. =D
Lol... Frappe's right! Deciding which is the best is hard. @.@

I would say.... Princess Mononoke. :3 The characters were wonderful and well developed. The audience learns to sympathize both the humans and the animals of the forests. The ending was quite sad, but equally heartwarming, I think after watching it the first time, I couldn't help but watch it five more times. XD
But I also did like the less serious, more cute My Neighbor Totoro. :3 Of all the characters in Miyazaki's films, I found Totoro irresistible. X3

Actually, there are a lot of songs from Hayao Miyazaki's work that Vocaloid does. It's mostly Miku, but Len and Rin show up in some of the ones I've seen. Man! I still need to see that!!! I haven't seen The Cat Returns yet. *fail* I agree with you on the ending. And, I so want Chihiro and Haku to get together. DX There's an awesome fanfic that's an after-the-movie type. It's really sweet. Kiki's is a fun one, one of my mother's favorites. (Yeah, I got my mom into it. XD She's cool. ) I haven't read the book yet. Is it any good? Hayao often has a different take on the stories, which is cool. I like it. It's what makes Hayao Miyzaki, Hayao Miyzaki. X3 I know! So I just get them all. XD Then I only have to worry about what I want to watch at the time. I have a collection of his movies, which includes Kiki's, Mononoke, Grave of the Fireflies, Porko Rosso, My Neighbor Totoro, and Spirited Away. @writer: My thoughts exactly on Mononoke and Totoro. I love him to death and watched Mononoke over and over and over and over! I still remember most of the lines. *Sigh* Now I wish I had a TV in my room. DX

In a sense, Miyazaki proves that animation doesn't always have to be childish or only for children. His themes and characters and deep and complex that older audiences can relate with them or sympathize them. The younger audience can enjoy the more simpler elements of Miyazaki's film so, in a way, both audiences are pleased. ^_^

@raven: That's a good way of putting it. That's exactly they same way I felt, though you said it much better. ^.^
@writer: You're very right. I wonder if that is the reason Mononoke is so loved. As far as I've seen, this movie captivates the largest range of the audience of his other movies.
I think you can also see the time, love, and effort put into this film.

-waves- Another Princess Mononoke fan over here! But coming close to that film are The Castle of Count Cadliostro (excuse spelling; it's early and I have no idea where the DVD of it is) and Laputa.
Is The Cat Returns the one with a really fat cat and a cat ornament n a top hat wearing a monacle? I loved it the first time round but the second time round it freaked me out.

I can't really discuss the other since all of you pointed out the things I would have said. ><
Haven't seen Ponyo yet so...

@iceblade: I love Ponyo! It's cute, sweet, clever and, of course, magical! (And, hello, Liam Neeson!) But, Mononoke's still my fav. ^.^ Mostly because, I've seen Mononoke many times, but I've only seen Ponyo once. (And it wasn't in theaters either!! DX)
@eli: Yay for another Mononoke fan! I've never seen Castle one, which sucks! But you're right on The Cat Returns. ^.^ At least, I think that's the only one with a top hat wearing cat. ^.^;
@fraps: Both good ones. If you want to discuss something, how about talking about the two you just mentioned! ^.^ Ponyo's good, wonderful actually, but it took a while for me to get as well, because my parents were busy the whole month after it came out on dvd. I don't know if it still does, but redbox had it before. ^.^

shezu: LOL, i was busy so i only managed to post a short reply. Well, Howl's moving castle was one of Miyzaki's movies that i have really wanted to see since I saw it on a commercial. Well... actually, all of the miyzaki movie trailers make me want to watch it. XD Like Howl the best. I also thought he was a bit of a gary stu (maybe a lot) but it doesn't really bother me. I think his insecurities about his looks was the only negative thing about him. Er... I like Howl's door which can transport a person to many places by just adjusting that color thingy above the door. Gave me an idea for a story. Spirited away. Haku. He's cute. >< Frappe: She's into it because of the lead male characters, XD

@ Shezu Miyazaki's stuff rarely gets into theaters here and can often be tricky to locate on DVD especially his lesser known stuff.
