“Ron does though. He said so.”
Eva watched as Ferdy climbed up Uncle Dante’s chest and nuzzled the unconscious man. The girl was still shaking. She froze.
“Atty, Grandma is down there!”
She stood up and ran towards the door. “Stay here. I’ll go find here.”
Atticus was still her younger brother and she had to take care of him. She definitely didn’t want to see him hurt. The little girl didn’t bother looking back as she tore down the hallway. Atty was safer staying beside Uncle Dante.
“Grandma!”
Her voice echoed eerily in the empty hallway. The only thing she could hear was her rapid heartbeat. She decided to ignore what Aunt Erin and Mummy always told her. If there were enemies here, they’ll still find her whether she yelled or not. She hoped her grandmother was okay.
“Grandma!”

The larger chimera growled as the scent became fainter. It crouched down and then charged forward, smashing through the remains of the wall. It sniffed the air as it tried to find where the tasty morsels went.
The winged chimera was about to follow when it heard a voice coming from above. Its ears flicked a little as it launched itself into the air. Its yellow eyes spotted a little girl running down the hallway on the second floor.
Backing a little, the beast charged at the wall. The force of the impact sent it smashing through the windows on the upper floor. It was slightly disoriented. The chimera whirled around to face the little girl. It could hear her whimpering as she backed into the wall.

Tomtom scrambled to its feet and ran after Eva. It was glad that the nice one decided to leave the kitchen. The walls won’t keep those scary monsters out for long.
As it climbed up the stairs alongside its mistress’ grandmother, the tonberry stopped. Tomtom heard its mistress’ voice. It keened worriedly. It didn’t know what to do. It wanted to warn her, but it didn’t want the other monster to hear it either.
A loud crash sounded from down the upper hallway. It was followed by an ear-piercing scream. The tonberry panicked. The winged monster was up there! Its mistress was in danger! It clambered up the stairs as quickly as possible, not caring that it kept tripping on its brown robes.

Ron was about to climb down the roof when he heard Eva calling for her grandmother. He looked down just in time to see the wing chimera smash through the window of the second storey.
“Damn it, Eva. Why must you be so loud?”
The chimney was probably the fastest way down. He climbed up it and jumped down. He’ll manage somehow. His half-siblings were in danger. Where was Dante? Didn’t he enter the place with the triplets?

Arianna nodded. “We go to the cupboard.”
She stood up and walked towards a room further down the hallway. The door was still open. Inside was a bed with a pink, lacey quilt and lots of stuffed animals. Against the wall on the far side of the room was a huge cupboard.
She could see traces of a pinkish aura lingering around the room. It was different from Augustus’. She couldn’t identify whose it was, so she decided to ignore it for now. It didn't seem related to Selena or Vergil in anyway. Plus, Vergil said that he wanted to find Lady Dion.
Arianna walked over and opened it. “Do you want to go first?”

(Stupid proboards...I had this whole thing written and they deleted it. /==)
"Eva!" Atty shouted. "Come back!"
He sat there for a long time, wondering what to do. As the chimera smashed through the window, the boy reached under his uncle and pulled out Ebony and Ivory. Atty hoped he remembered how to use them properly. He pulled himself together. Now was not the time to freak out. People were in trouble! He had to do something.
Atty ran for his sister and gulped when he saw the chimera. He hadn't expected it to be so...huge.
---
Eva froze. She took a few deep breaths than ran for the study. However, she didn't make it there since two of her granchildren were between her and it.
"Come here," she hissed, trying to beckon them towards her. "Come here."
---
Vergil followed Arianna, calming down as he walked. He wasn't all that surprised about needing to use the portal in Eva's room.
"It's only proper for you to go first," he said quietly.

[Awwww…. -glomprun- =( Proboards is laggy lately. *not sure if it’s her com*]
Ron coughed as the cloud of soot settled. He’ll choose the windows next time. It was cleaner than the chimney. He got up to his feet. First floor and there’s another chimera on this floor. Great!
He dashed out of the sitting room and rounded the corner. The bigger chimera was still trapped in the kitchen. Its head perked up when he ran pass. The beast growled and attempted to smash through the wall. It shook its head. The wall didn’t fall. It backed away as it prepared to charge at the wall again. The raven haired teen decided to ignore it and ran up the stairs. The beast won’t be able to hear him. Ron drew out his dagger from his pouch. He wasn’t keen on wasting his bullets yet.
-------------
Eva whimpered. Her feet refused to budge even though she heard her grandmother. She was afraid of doing so. She was looking straight into the chimera’s eyes. She closed her eyes raised her arms to block the blow when she saw the chimera rear back as it prepared to strike.
-------------
Most of what Vergil said washed over Arianna but she caught the words ‘go’ and ‘first’. It took her awhile to realize that he was serious. He didn’t seem impatient either. She smiled.
"Please come."
She looked at him like a lost puppy as she stepped into the portal. Arianna waited nervously after she stepped out on the other side. She hated the how the dimly lit hall way seemed to stretch forever in either direction. She could hardly see the top of the domed ceiling. She felt so lost.

(>_< Proboards always seems to be laggy. :/ Maybe it's just how long the posts are in certain threads?)
Atty stared up at the chimera from beside his sister and didn't move when his grandmother ran to them and tried to sheild them from the chimera's attack. Atty flinched and closed his eyes, expecting to be slashed by the paw.
He heard a weird grunt and the oddest sound of metal on flesh and opened an eye.
"Uncle Dante?"
Dante shoved Rebellion deeper into the thing's neck. "C'mon, kid!" he shouted to Ron, knowing he couldn't take the chimera out alone without hurting someone. His head still hurt too much, after all.
---
Vergil hesitated and looked around, as if to remember his house. He stepped through the portal and stepped out into the hallway beside Arianna.
The half devil cocked an eyebrow as he looked around. This was Dion's house? How...strange.

“I heard you!” Ron yelled as he pulled to a stop on the opposite side of the chimera. He could barely see Dante.
The raven haired boy bent his knees slightly as he got ready to lunge at the beast. “Any plans or do we wing it?”
The teen smirked. There was no doubt which of the two options he preferred. The girlfriend told him he’s reckless, but hey, we all live life once. He never believed that reincarnation*stuff Aiden kept preaching about anyway. He was raring for some action. Now!

“Vergil?” Arianna asked timidly as she tugged on his sleeve.
The petite woman seemed a little nervous to be standing in the cavernous hallway. The ceiling caved upwards. In the dimly lit passage, it was hard to tell just how high it reached. The light from the candles shone feebly. Each was placed a good distance away from its neighbor. Polished wooden beams of various lengths and thickness protruded from the walls on the right. Only the wood at the center was unpolished. The surface was worn and scratched. The beams were placed at different heights with a good deal of space between each of them.
The windows along the left side had ornate gold bars with silver etchings installed on the outside. The jewels adorning the bars sparkled intermittently as they reflected the weak light from the candles inside. There were so many of them that they seem to outshine the stars in the night sky. A warm breeze drifted through the windows, causing the candles to flicker even more.
The sound of flapping wings made Arianna turn around. A huge magpie swooped pass. It stopped in mid air and craned its head round its wing joint to look at the curious pair standing below. Its eyes widened. It dived downwards and perched on one of the beams. With slight jump, it turned around and looked down its beak haughtily. The magpie seemed to have recovered his composure quickly.
“Good evening, Lady Arianna,” it said slowly as it carefully enunciated each syllable. It had rich baritone.
“What is his name?”
The bird withheld his own name as he looked at the man standing beside Arianna. He had never seen hair that pale before. He’d guess it was either white or whitish blonde. It was rather hard to differentiate the two given that he could only see a limited scope of colors. However what brought his attention to Lady Arianna’s companion was the man’s scent. The stranger didn’t smell quite human, but he can’t be sure. His lordship would know better.
“His name is Vergil.” Arianna replied softly.
“Do you want to talk to Lady Thaleia?”
“No, Vergil and I want to talk Lady Dion.”
"Would you prefer to see Lord Cirrus? Lady Dion left a few days ago."
This time the bird looked straight at Vergil. He didn't have time nor the patience to deal with Lady Arianna. He had other more pressing commitments. Hopefully her companion was as intelligent as he looked. The magpie straightened up a little as he straightened his deep blue vest in a rather paranoid fashion. Nothing was ever immaculate enough.
(Hope the description wasn't too confusing. >.< The magpie would probably reach up to Vergil's chest.)
(*stuff is Basil's attempt to censor what Ron actually had in mind. ~.~)

Dante laughed, bloodlust making him cheerful despite his pounding headache. His laugh was cut off as his arm was nearly bitten off.
"Sorry, kid, planning ain't my thing. Guess we'll just have to see what happens." I'm so grounded, he thought, knowing the house was probably wrecked.
Eva attempted to heard her grandchildren into the study, not wanting her youngest son to get anyone hurt...or for the children to see Dante and Ron get injured.
---
Vergil put a hand on Arianna's shoulder, as much a calming gesture as a possessive one. He fixed the magpie with a cool glare, raising a pale eyebrow in disatisfaction.
"We have an urgent...appointment with Dion. If she is not available, perhaps we may visit her rooms instead," he said calmly, his voice laced with an odd authority.

Without answering, Ron gave the chimera’s head a flying kick. He used the momentum from the kick to vault onto the beast’s back. He barely had time to catch his breath when he heard a loud hissing. His eyes widened a fraction as he dodged the serpent striking him. The teen almost lost his balance. He grabbed the serpent tail and jumped down. He was now standing behind the chimera with its tail firmly in hand. He was glad this was not the type that spits poison into its enemies’ eyes.
“We need to hack them up.” He told Dante telepathetically.
“My girl said they won’t bleed.”
The raven haired boy hoped that the other would understand what he meant. These chimeras were dolls and not living things, so destroying their bodies was the only way to stop them. He tightened his grip as the beast lunged. He steadied the knife in his hand and made a clean swipe before he could be dragged.
(XD Do I hear a crash following this? *chuckles* *whispers* I love seeing Ron lose his balance)
-----------------------------
Eva stumbled as she followed her Grandma and Atty into the study. She kept craning her head to get a better view.
“Grandma?” She asked softly.
The usual happy spark that danced in her eyes whenever she smiled had dimmed. The girl was lost for words. She was frightened, and yet she felt it was wrong to run away. They should be trying to help Uncle Dante. She knew Daddy would.
-------------------------------
Arianna leaned closer to Vergil. His touch was reassuring. She fidgeted a little. She never felt comfortable when ignored. It usually meant that she had done something wrong.
The magpie continued focusing on the white haired man standing beside Lady Arianna. If he could sneer, he would. The man was either an ignorant fool, or an uncivilized brute under that gentlemanly façade. He stretched out one wing lazily as though to prevent the pair from side stepping him.
“I’m afraid it isn’t appropriate for a gentleman to enter a lady’s chambers without her permission, or that of the head of the household.”
He readied himself for a fight. There was no way he’ll ever allow such a ruffian to wander around. His lord will have his head should he fail.
The small woman stiffened even more. She could see hints of red coloring the magpie’s aura. She tugged Vergil’s sleeve gently and said softly. “I like Lady Thaleia. She talks nice.”

Dante gave a short nod, gritting his teeth as the chimera's lunge loosened Rebellion from its neck and sent him crashing into a wall. Sh!t, that f*cking hurt. He got swiftly to his feet, an infantile grin spreading across his face. Yeah, he was grounded, but at least he could take his frustrations out on something in the mean time.
He ran for the chimera, loosing focus on Ron, and attempted to sever the creature's head from it's shoulders.
(Hehe. I shouldn't giggle cuz it sounds painful. ^^; *also enjoys seeing muses loose their balance*)
-----------------------------
"Yes, sweetheart?" the elder woman asked with a kind but strained smile as she managed to get the door closed behind them. Eva wished her husband was there and that the house wasn't being attacked...again. Why did this always have to happen?
-------------------------------
Vergil didn't usually like when people stepped closer to him. It put him on edge and raised his metaphorical hackles. But Arianna, like Selena, had a way of comforting him with her presense alone.
And for that reason he kept his temper in line and did not attempt to dismmember the magpie before them.
From the look on the large bird's face, Vergil could see both of its misconceptions about him. And, being that he was neither, that would simply not do.
The half demon sent the magpie a cold glare that had caused many people, friend and foe alike, to keep their distance (or run away, which ever came first), before turning a much softer and gentler look on Arianna.
"Would you like to see her instead?" Vergil murmured, his tone a bit warmer than before. "I do not believe she could be of help, however."
He couldn't help but take the smallest bit of childish pleasure from ignoring the magpie who was aggravating him so much.

Ron was flung backwards as the tail came off with a clean swipe. The boy stumbled for a second. He kicked against the wall to prevent himself from falling out of the window.
“Ouch!” He snarled as he tried to shake off the snake.
He stepped on the remains of its body and hacked it away from the head. Annoyed that it won’t give up, he lowered his hand on to the ground and crushed the disembodied head. His victory was short lived. A lowered crash from the bottom of the stairs alerted him that the other chimera managed to break into the house. He swore.
“Do you have flame-” He paused, realizing that Dante was probably too engrossed.
The smaller chimera spread its wings menacingly as it tried to block the oncoming blow. It reared upwards as it tried to take off. Wishing to finish this battle quickly, the black haired teen immediately leaped onto the chimera’s back and gave its head a kick, forcing the beast to fold its wings in response. Ron then tried to flatten himself as much as possible to avoid Dante’s blow.
------------------------------------------
“I want to help Uncle Dante,” Eva replied firmly.
She was tired of hiding and staying safe while her Uncle and half brother were risking their lives.
-----------------------------------------
The magpie waited patiently as the man talked to Lady Arianna. He’d rather the stranger sort her counsel than fighting it off. A feat of strength is stupid, but some were born brutes. This is how the world maintains its balance. Unconsciously, he reached down and straightened his vest again.
Arianna nodded. “I want to talk to her. Looking … slow.”
The petite woman had to pause. She could not find the words to say what she meant. She had no idea why people like to go and stare at people for hours. Talking was more useful, and less boring. She bit her lip. There was something else she wanted to tell Vergil, but didn’t know how to say it.
“Lady Thaleia can see. She see … people, things… not in front of her eyes.”
She tilted her head. “They happen one day… no, two days… many days after she sees.”
The bird gave a muffled snort. Lady Arianna has not changed a bit from her slow witted self. Still it was not his place to comment on someone who was above him.
---------------------------------------
Violette kneeled down beside the prone figure on the floor. Her fingers ghosted the skin of his neck till she found a faint pulse. Still alive, she thought. How alive, she couldn’t be sure. He seemed pretty out of it since even the faint drizzle couldn’t wake him up. She tilted his head sideways so that he wouldn't drown in the puddle.
The girl looked around, deciding whether it would be safe to continue staying in the alleyway while waiting for the man to wake up. The coast was clear. The only other occupant around was a figure swaddled in flea ridden clothes. And drunk by the smell of it. She stood up and stretched a little. She knelt down again, sheltering the man’s head with her umbrella. It was the least she could do, since Mother asked her to look out for this family.
