Eva smiled. She loved seeing her grandchildren looking excited.
"Just be careful, dear," she said calmly, setting the dirty dishes in teh sink before checking the pizzas. "Atticus, please get the silverware and napkins."
Atty grinned and got napkins. He didn't bother with the silverware. Who ate pizza with a fork?
---
Vergil gave her a small smile, still stroking her hair.
"I need your help. Someone is trying to harm my children. Would you mind helping me find out who they are?" he inquired, trying to keep his voice as serene as he could.
It was difficult, being this nice. It reminded him of being a kid and having to take care of his mother when his father was away for long amounts of time.

Eva tip toed and reached for the first plate. She held it carefully as she walked across to the dining table. She pushed it up onto the table before climbing one of the chairs. She picked it up again before setting it on the place mat.
Ginevra frowned. "Gus isn't back yet..."
~++~+~+~+~
Arianna turned to look at him. She smiled. "I can give you my help. I don't know it looks like what."
She thought for awhile. "It won't be a lot of trouble. I want to see someone too. Everyone keeps talking about him."
She climbed onto her knees and reached out to brush away a strand of silver hair from Vergil's face. "Shall we walk?"
She frowned a little. "You are blue. Now you have more yellow. Why do you worry?"

Atty also frowned. "You think he got lost?"
Atticus doubted Gus did. His big brother never got lost. But it was the only reason he could think of that Gus wasn't there.
---
Vergil watched her curiously for a long time. He couldn't remember the last time someone had messed with his hair other than himself or Selena. He nodded thoughtfully, then got to his feet and offered her his hand.
"I...worry because I don't wish to lose my family again," he said awkwardly.

Eva climbed down the chair slowly. Like her little brother, she was frowning as well. Gus never took so long before, unless he wanted to go to the library or be alone. She didn't think her older brother was in a bad mood today. He can't be worrying about Mummy and Daddy being angry, can he?
"Shall we go look for him?"
~+~+~+~+~+~
Arianna nodded. "It is sad. Lost things cannot find easily."
As the walked down the corridor, the black haired woman stopped outside a particularly door. The person who was here recently had a familiar "glow". She could see the traces left on the door knob. The glow reminded her of Selena. She pulled Vergil back gently. She pointed at the room.
"The person in the room is who?"
Deep down, Arianna knew it wasn't her little girl. This glow belonged to a little boy. She can't tell how old he was since the trace was faint. It made her even more curious than ever.

Atty nodded. He was worried about his big brother. He crept out of the room, wondering which direction Gus went.
"Where's Granpa's study?"
---
Vergil couldn't have agreed with her more. Finding lost things was always...problematic. He stopped and looked thoughtfully at the door.
"This is my son Augustus' bedroom," he said quietly, looking at the door. "Did you want to go in?"

"Grandma, we'll be back! Atty and I want to say hello to Grandpa!" Eva said cheerfully as she grabbed Atty's hand and ran out of the kitchen.
She hoped her Grandmother wouldn't think it was odd. The little girl didn't want her Grandmother worrying all the time. Aunt Erin said worrying made people old. She ran up the stairs. Grandpa's study was on the second floor somewhere. Left... she thinks. All she remembered was it being located near the end of the corridor.
~+~+~+~+~+~
Arianna nodded. She wanted to see what was inside. There would be more of these traces inside. It puzzled her. How could her little girl have a son? Her daughter was only a child. She waited for Vergil to open the door. She had been told to never enter places without permission.
"Au-gust-us," she said slowly.
"His name is Aug-ust-us?"
She stared at the fading traces on the door knob. Usually these traces linger longer in the bedsheets and clothes.
"He is like my little girl." She said firmly.

Eva sighed, knowing she couldn't stop them if she wanted to. In some ways, the triplets were more trouble than her boys had ever been.
Atty followed his sister curiously. He couldn't hear his brother anywhere.
"Au?" he whispered, knowing he sounded silly.
---
"Yes, but we usuallly call him Gus," he told her, opening the door for her.
Vergil watched her a moment, curious, and inquired, "How do you know he is like Selena?"

It was horribly quiet. Eva was even more worried than before. She pulled Atty closer to her as they continued down the corridor. The birds have stopped tweeting.
"Grandpa?" She called as they stood outside Sparda's study.
She tip toed and reached up for the door knob. "Grandpa, can we come in?"
~+~+~++~+~
Arianna stepped in. She looked around and smiled. The traces were stronger in here than on the door knob itself. The color was nice. She closed her eyes and breathed in. People with this kind of glow were usually nice. They were safe. It was a bit different Selena's. Her little girl wasn't that safe, but she loved Selena all the same.
"He's nice," she said contently.
She turned to Vergil. "You can not see the glow?"

Atty was looking around, looking oddly thoughtful.
Down here.... The whisper drifted across Atty's mind almost seductively. Atty, never one to pass up on something he was curious about, pattered down to the room at the end of the hall. He twisted the knob and attempted to open the door, but couldn't open it. He peered through the crack in the door and thought he saw the edge of someone's boot on the ground. What was going on?
---
He is, Vergil privately agreed.
"I cannot see it," Vergil admitted, frowning. "How does the glow work?"
The half demon watched her carefully, feeling curious. He'd never met someone like Arianna before.

The study was empty. Eva closed the door. Odd, Gus and Grandpa aren’t around. She turned to look for her brother and realized he wasn’t there.
“Atty?”
“Calm down,” she told herself.
Aunt Erin said that people think more clearly when they focused no matter how scared they were. Ginerva turned on her heel and ran down the corridor. Atty was up ahead. She pulled up behind him. She bent over panting.
“At-ty… you sc-scared me.”
She noticed that he was staring at something. She leaned forward and peered through the cap. She saw the edge of the boot as well. She quickly tip toed and pushed the door open. The door slammed into something. The impact was absorbed by their Uncle’s body. The body was closer to the door than she thought.
“Oops?”
She held her breath as she waited for him to react, but he didn’t. She crept closer and poked him. Still he didn’t react. She raised an eyebrow.
“Atty, I think we should tell Grandma…”
She looked up. “I think we might need a broom as well…”
The whole place was in a mess!
~+~+~+~+~+~
“I don’t know,” Arianna answered sincerely.
“People, plants and animals glow. They when they don't wake up.”
She took his hand and held it up. “You glow. You are blue.”
The petite lady chose her words carefully. It was hard to describe. “Selena is red. Augustus is purple. The purple has more blue. The red is like Selena’s red.”
She hoped he understood what she meant. She didn’t know how to tell him what kind of red, purple or blue she meant.

"Sorry," Atty said in a small, worried voice. "What if they hurt Granma?"
He wondered if he should try and shock his uncle into consciousness.
---
Vergil nodded thoughtfully, thinking it must have something to do with auras. He wondered what had happened to Arianna to cause her to see things like this.
Shaking himself out of his thoughts he politely inquired, "Would you like to go now?"

“I don’t know…” Eva said.
She didn’t want to leave Atty alone, neither did she want him to go back down alone. She was silent as she thought about her options. She gasped when something brushed against her. She turned around and squealed.
“Ferdy.”
The white ferret nuzzled her before running to Atty and doing the same. He climbed up Atty’s leg and perched himself on the boy’s shoulder. He cocked his head to one side as he studied the strange man lying on the ground.
Eva ran to the window. “Where’s Ron?”
~+~+~+~+~
Tomtom had been dozing off when it sat up. It sniffed the air and stiffened. He was here and he wasn’t alone. It growled a little. It didn’t like him.
The tonberry got up and was about to leave the kitchen when it spotted the older Eva. It sensed that its mistress and the noisy one liked her. It shook its head. No one was safe when he was around. It scrambled over to the triplet’s grandmother and tugged insistently on her right sleeve. They had to leave! He was outside!
~+~+~+~+~
“We go where?” Arianna asked curiously.
She was a little reluctant to leave the room. She looked around hopefully from the bed where she was sitting. She wanted to meet the boy. Augustus’ blanket was held firmly in her hands. The traces of aura were still permeated the cloth. She hugged it to her chest. The smell and color was comforting. She seldom liked someone’s color and smell this much.

"Beats me," Atty mumbled, petting the ferret awkwardly. As long as Ferdy didn't try to climb into any openings in his clothes, he was fine with it. An idea occured to the boy. "If Ron's here...maybe he knows who hurt Uncle Dante?"
Atty prodded his uncle, sending a small jolt of electricty into the man's body. When he received no response, he got really worried. Who could possibly hurt his uncle?
---
Eva looked oddly at Tomtom, wondering why he was acting so strange. She frowned to herself and picked up Luce and Ombra from the counter where her husband had set them earlier.
Looking at the frightened tomberry, she said decisively, "Show me what's wrong."
---
"We must find Dion," Vergil informed her, trying to keep calm despite how his nerves were strung. He felt something odd from Dante. Twins naturally had a connection, but right now the other end of the connection, Dante's end, was a big staticy mess. And since Dante was the one who had taken the children into hiding, that had to be a bad thing.
If someone had hurt the triplets...if someone had hurt his family, he didn't know what he'd do. Nothing good, that was for sure.

[outside]
Ron tossed his dagger into the air and caught it again. His legs dangled precariously from the edge of the roof. He watched the two beasts circling the grounds. Both looked the same - lion’s head and body, horns, eagle’s hind legs and a viper for a tail. The smaller one was winged, but the bigger one wasn’t. His ferret slipped down the chimney.
He removed his sunglasses and slipped it into the pocket of his leather jacket. These will not be easy to deal with. He could, of course, tackle the winged one. Who will take care of the other one?
“Great. The bazooka is with the motorbike. The girlfriend will probably laugh when she hears this.”
He shrugged to himself. “She would if she wasn’t so pissy. She’s a bitch at the best of times.”
“Oh shit!”
The bigger sniffed the air. It raised its paw and smashed through one of the windows on the ground floor. Ron fished out a grenade from inside his pocket. He yanked out the pin and threw the grenade below.
“Duck!” He bellowed.
The winged beast turned to face him. Its companion was oblivious to his shout. The boy scrambled backwards as he braced himself for an attack. The chimera crouched down and spread its wings. But before it could take off, an explosion caused the entire house to shake. The two beasts reared. Their howls echoed throughout the grounds.
Ron lay on the warm roof as he peered over the edge. His eyes widened a little. Both seemed unharmed even though the grenade exploded right where they stood. He lay very still hoping that neither would notice him. The winged one seemed to have keen sense of hearing, but the other was deaf.
~+~+~+~+~+~+~
[on the second floor]
Eva pulled away from the window and crouched beside her Uncle. It was useless. She couldn’t see their half brother outside. She poked the man a couple of times then stopped.
“Will cold water work?”
A loud explosion shock the entire house. Roars came from somewhere below. Eva shrieked as she wrapped her arms around Atty. Realizing that she was hugging him too tightly, the little girl let go a little, but her arms remained around her younger brother.
“Demons?” She asked nervously.
~+~+~+~+~+~+~
[in the kitchen]
Tomtom scrambled after Eva senior as she picked up the guns. It leaped up and grabbed hold of her sleeve again and pulled her arm down. It tugged insistently as it tried to move towards the door. The nice one was heavier than she looked!
The reptilian white eyes widen with shock as a huge paw smashed through the window. It gave Eva on mighty pull as it scrambled under the table. The poor quivering tonberry crouched in the far corner and covered its head with its hands. Its eyes were screwed shut. It simply refused to budge even when the grenade went off. They should have run when they had the chance. Now they will be eaten!
It sniffed the air then cracked one eye open. Where was the nice one?
~+~+~+~+~+~+~
[Diabolus Sileo]
“Is Lady Dion lost?”
Arianna frowned. This was the first time that anyone ever lost Lady Dion. She can’t imagine how Vergil could have lost such a huge owl. “My husband told me. If she has no work, she will be home.”
The tiny woman tilted her head to one side before reaching out to touch Vergil’s cheek. He wasn’t like earlier. The blue kept changing. Yellow patches began appearing and now patches of angry red. She shivered. She hadn’t seen anyone this angry for a long time.
“Vergil?”

(Woot! DS is back! ) Dante gave a sleepy groan as the house shook. His eye lids twitched, as did his hands. But Atty didn't notice this. He had his hands over his head and was trying not to freakd out. What was going on out there? "Demon's dun use grenades, Eva," Atty muttered dully. "Gotta be somethin' else. Should we do something?" --- Eva ducked down behind the kitchen island as the paw smashed through the window. Her heart thudded loudly in her ears. Though she was afraid, she wasn't about to back down. The woman beckoned the tonberry to her. She knew better than to think that they could get out through the front door. The only thing to do was to go up stairs and hope Sparda would be able to help them with...whatever was trying to attack them. --- Vergil made himself calm down...or at least tried. Worry fueled his frustration. On a burst of sudden inspiration, he slipped his hand into his pocket and pressed the emergency button on his phone. It would send out a text to everyone (his parents, brother, Nero, the couple others he had on his list) telling them that something was off, but he couldn't call to tell them. Hopefully, Nero would call Dante and find out what was wrong. Or, better yet, Dante would call. "I'm fine. Arianna," he said slowly, "could youtake me to Lady Dion's home?" He nearly reached up to touch her hand, but stopped himself. Now wasn't time for hand-holding.
