Selena wrinkled her nose slightly as she caught a whiff of the burnt leather. Her reddish brown eyes trailed over to the hem of Dante's coat before looking away again. She kept her whip and glanced at her boyfriend instead.
"Yes, let's."
She sensed that the younger twin was mad and decided to keep her distance for now. Fighting might be a welcomed relief, but it would be foolish in their current situation. Selena turned to look at Vergil briefly. She pushed away the treacherous thoughts creeping into her mind. It will be something she'll deal with when necessary. She paused. She'll deal with it If she could...
Well, it won't be the first time. But it was the first time she respected someone even a little. She simply refused to admit anything more. The matter was closed.
"How much further do we have to go?"
"Actually, how many more demons ought be around would be a better question," she thought.

(Does Selena mean she respects Vergie-kins? *didges Yamato and hides* Or does she mean something else?)
Vergil stayed silent for a long time and just walked, letting the others trail behind and not answering Selena's questions. He could practically hear the grumpy thoughts Dante was attempting to not voice. He hated when Dante pouted. It was pathetic.
The elder twin stopped beside a large patch of wall that was covered in sprawling blood vesseld though the wall looked oddly solid and hard. If one looked carefully they could make out the stream of veins and arteries cascading down to a gaint beating heart many feet below.
"You wished to know where we need to go next?" he inquired, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth as Dante glowered at him.
"No, sh*t, Sherlock," the younger twin growled. "So where do we go?"
"Here." Vergil gave the patch of wall behind him a pointed look. When Dante did nothing more than stare blankly at it, Vergil gave one of the larger vessels a gentle tug and the door slowly opened.
The hall beyond was huge; beautifully made of white marble and bright light. It could have easily been an old cathedral or, seeing as a large marble Zeus-like statue towered over the other end of the hall, some ancient temple.
Vergil stood back to let the others enter before him. He watched the seated statue blankly and the statue seemed to watch them back. Now...now things were going to get tricky.

(^^ *nods silently*)
Selena watched as Vergil tugged one of the larger vessels. A disgusted look crossed her face briefly. She turned away. She crossed her arms and shuddered. Somehow the thought of touching something so… organic made her feel sick. She liked keeping her hands clean as much as possible. Something that Erin will never understand.
Remembering that she wasn’t alone, she turned around and glared. The first person she saw happened to be Dante. The red head hoped that her boyfriend’s younger brother didn’t notice that.
The sorceress turned back and looked at the hall beyond the door… if she can bring herself to call it that. Her face impassive. She adamantly pushed away memories that she can’t afford to remember. Selena let her arms fall to her side. She smiled playfully.
“Aren’t you a gentleman?”
She walked over and ran her hand round Vergil’s jaw. She pulled herself close to him and gave him a swift, hard peck on his lips before stepping inside the opening. Her hand gripped Avnas tightly. What now?

Dante didn't notice Selena's reaction, or even pay attention to the pair. He simply slipped inside the hall and stared around, hoping to see some sign of Maya.
"My mother did teach me to value manners," Vergil retorted, a slightly teasing edge in his voice.
He, for once, returned her kiss, before gesturing for her to follow Dante. When both his twin and girlfriend were inside, he quietly pulled the door closed and broke off the lock. Vergil needed to make sure Dante didn't do something stupid...like running out of the room.
"So...you have come," a cold, decidedly evil voice echoed around the room. It seemed to come from the giant statue, which was regaurding them through brilliantly red eyes.
"Where is the girl?" Vergil inquired emotionlessly as Dante added, "Give us Maya!"
Mundus laughed, which made Dante want to kill him.
"She is there," the devil said, sounding far too pleased.
The sons of Sparda both turned to look above the door, where Maya hung unconscious.

Selena glanced at the statue in a detached manner. It was not in her nature to show her opponent that she was intimidated. Truly there was something rather comical and sad about appearing as a large statue. Words like stiff, pretentious, figurehead and puppet came to mind. Does Mundus know that he has that effect on people? It only made it easier not to take him too seriously.
The sorceress doubted that her boyfriend's ... Selena brushed the thought aside as she looked at the girl suspended above. The red head doubted Maya would have wanted to be pitied. It would be humiliating for both of them if she did.
"Is this how you treat all your female guests?"
Selena gave a derisive snort. "How hospitable of you."
For once, she could sympathize with Dante's impulsive attitude. Such people often set her back up. But impulses aside, she knew deep down that she wasn't willing to fight a battle she wasn't sure how to win. She was more than willing to tolerate till she has a better gauge of her opponent's strength. Not quite hers... but... it didn't matter really.

"I hate to say it," Dante muttered, "but I agree with the lady." He raised his voice to adress Mundus. "Your hospitality sucks @ss. You gonna give us the girl, or do we gotta charge you extra for it?"
The younger son of Sparda unsheathed Rebellion in an attempt to get his point across.
"That's enough," Vergil said quietly, somehow standing by the door again. He sounded dead inside. "They're yours to do with as you wish. Let me take Maya...my lord."
Whatever was holding Maya up, vanished and she fell, though Vergil caught her limp body before she could hit the ground.
Mundus seemed pleased though oddly quiet. Which was a bad sign...if anyone cared to pay attention to him.
Dante gazed at his brother like he'd been slapped. "But...Verge...?"
Vergil ignored him.
(Verge is gonna murder me for the lord comment. ._.)

(lol! ^^ finally the post is done. Let me know if I have to edit. @.@ sorry... had to anticipate some of Vergil's movements)
Selena’s eyes narrowed for awhile. She took a deep breath before pushing Dante out of the way as she ran towards Vergil. Her eyes a blazed. She threw a fireball at him, not caring whether Dante or Maya were caught in the crossfire.
“Stay still so I can kill you!” She yelled furiously.
The redhead knew that she had to keep up the front. Backing down now would make Mundus suspicious. She swallowed hard to keep the bile from rising to her throat. Vergil can’t be serious, could he? She desperately wanted to believe that she could trust him still.
Selena teleported behind him. With a flick of her wrist, Avnas’ bladed segments merged together. She thrust the sword forward, aiming for her lover’s throat.

(Yay! Hehe, it's alright. It's good. *feels bad for them all*) Vergil dodged each move easily despite having Maya still in his arms. He refused to think of anything, to let any emotion into his face or mind. If he did, he'd loose everything he'd worked for. The problem was that he couldn't fight back to keep this up. Or...maybe he could.... He air tricked out of the way, sending several summoned swords towards Selena as he escaped Avnas's reach. Dante just watched them, so confused. Any other time, he would've joined Selena. But it was his brother...and Maya...and...and... he f*cking used us, a little voice in his head snarled. That little voice promped him to raise his guns and aim for his twin. The movement cut short as a sharp pain started in his gut. He looked down, puzzled, and saw the end of something sharp, long, and pink protuding from his abdomin. Their was a splurt of blood and he colapsed. Mundus had to step in when the younger son of Sparda attempted to join the fight. There was no way he could let Vergil be defeated, he'd need the boy soon enough, after all. Though...he had to admit, it was enjoyable to watch the boy and his lover fight it out. Very enjoyable, indeed. Too bad he'd have to put an end to it soon enough.

(<3 Ebil and sneaky Mundus!)
Selena could not stop in time when Vergil air tricked away. She plunged her sword into the floor to stop herself from losing balance. She waited for awhile then teleported away seconds before the summoned swords crashed down where she was previously. She collapsed onto her knees panting. Avnas gripped loosely in her hand.
The sorceress forced herself up again. She brushed a loose strand of hair aside as she lurched forward unsteadily, not caring about the fact that she was leaving herself completely vulnerable. She could feel her body protesting, but she refused to surrender. The girl held out her free hand as thin strands of bright blue flames began snaking round Vergil’s arms and legs. It seemed like she planned to restrain him then beheading him.
Tightening her grip around Avnas, Selena smirked. “Looks like I win.”
She was too focused on Vergil to pay any attention to Dante.
