"Not you," Dante said sulkily. He nodded to his brother. "Him."
Vergil stiffened under Selena's touch and, in the moment, was reminded of how human he was. The urges coursing through him were a testiment to that. He tightened his grip on Yamato to prevent himself from doing anything...rash.
"But, Dante, you're so much more hard headed than either of us...you'd be able to block any attacks before we got there." The elder twin was relieved by how steady his voice was.
Dante scowled. He really hated Vergil sometimes.
"But Veeeeeeeeeeerge, I hate going there," he whined.
"Stop wibbling, we'll follow you." It was said with a stern don't-even-think-about-debating-me glare.
Dante resisted the urge to stick his tongue out. Instead, he flipped Vergil off and leapt through the mirror before he could receive retribution.
The demon world looked odd. The hall was white as was the world around it. Dante felt like he was on an odd platform suspended by air. No one was around to tell him that he actually was.
--
Vergil looked over at Selena, wondering if she wanted to go in first.

Selena smirked when she felt Vergil stiffening. She loved teasing him this way. She wondered if he’ll ever give in when his brother is around. She stopped. Dante was waiting for them on the other side. She leaned over and gave Vergil a passionate kiss.
“See you on the other side, tiger!” She said with a growl.
She walked up to the mirror. She studied her reflection briefly and soothed her hair. She reached down to take out her compact when she realized why she was there in the first place. She shrugged and stepped inside.
She stepped out on the other side. She noticed Dante standing near the edge of an area surrounded by pillars. She walked over and joined him. They seemed to be on some sort of island. She can’t be sure. There were other islands floating in the distance. She was intrigued. How exactly did they keep a float?
“Looking for something?”

Dante yelped, teetered forward, and flailed (in a turtlish look of surprise) in a way he would deny doing probably until his dying day. When he finally regained his balance, he shot Selena a dark and sulky glare that made him look more like Vergil than ever, and stalked a few feet away. The boy couldn't help it, he just couldn't like the girl that was banging his brother.
---
Selena would be the death of him, the boy mantained.
Vergil hesitated, Mundus' offer and memories of the time Selena and him had ventured to the demon world running through his mind. What if he left them there? What if he let Mundus take them and receive all that he had been promised? The half-Devil hated being controlled, but with that kind of power, couldn't he kill Mundus?
An image came to mind. A picture of him, his parents, and Dante, when he was small. Would he, could he give that up?
Vergil shook his head. He'd think about it later. He dove through the small mirror and nearly landed on Dante, only missing him as he rolled out of the way.

Selena giggled when she saw Dante floundering. Her eyes were twinkling. Now, that’s something you don’t see every day. She chose to ignore Dante’s glare. He can glare at her all he wants. She loved the attention, even though it was hostile. She wink cheekily and stepped aside when she noticed him rolling out of the way. Vergil landed beside her. She bent down and gave him a peck on the cheek. She ruffled his hair playfully.
“I miss you,” she teased.
She knew they’ve only been separated for less than five minutes, but she can’t help herself. Somehow, she was feeling extra flirtatious all of a sudden. She has never felt this elated since she killed her first lover.

"I didn't think you were here long enough to miss me," Vergil stated logically, getting to his feet and kissing Selena's hand.
He was a little worried about Selena. If he remembered correctly, lust was something she wasn't very good with. He exchanged looks with his brother (who had barely resumed his feet).
"Perhaps we should move on?"
"Yeah, unless you two need a room. Geeze," Dante added with a mutter and dark look.

Selena giggled. She blushed rather uncharacteristically. "It's very open here. So I doubt we can get any privacy."
She shrugged as she turned to follow Vergil. She was trying her best not to look at Dante. He looked adorable whenever he sulks like that. She wanted to sigh.
She doubt if her boyfriend was feeling playful at the moment. She tucked her hands behind her back and walked. She tried to concentrate the floating island up ahead. She had never seen so many statues before. Some were very detailed and life like. Others not so. It was as if the artist could not make up his mind.

Vergil led them onwards, not looking uncomfortable at all because...well, he'd been here before. A path formed before them as they left their island for the next one over. A mirror hovered ominously amongst the statues on it. Vergil heard the flap of wings and hoped that wasn't what he thought it was.
"...the f*ck?" Dante inquired eloquently, confirming Vergil's fears.
He turned to see what looked like an angel, beautiful and dark skinned, carrying a blue lance made of light. Wings enfolded both 'angel's' bodies, protecting it's only weak spot, and making it look like they were wearing dresses made of feathers.
Yeah, this was going to suck.

Selena heard a soft rustling sound. She turned around and stared at the angel like beings in front of them. There were two of them. She heard Dante swear. That wasn’t surprising, he swears a lot. But… he wasn't rushing headlong into battle. Well, not that impulsively. Now, that’s bad.
She heard the sound of gun shots. Dante was firing at them. They separated. One of them swooped down and swiped at them with its lance. Its wings opened, revealing its belly. She was mesmerized. However, it didn’t take her long to come to her senses. She quickly dodged out of the way. She landed in an ungracefully heap on the ground. She rolled onto her back and sat up. She turned to look at it.
“What the…”
It was gone again. It was hovering above them. She wondered what happened to the other one. She craned her neck, trying to look for its partner.
“What exactly are those things?”

"Demons," Vergil answered as Dante kept shooting. He wondered how to get to the Fallen flying above their heads, then remembered Selena's wip. He whispered in Selena's ear, "Try and get her down here."
He helped Dante finish off the other Fallen.

Selena nodded slowly. She had seen how Dante destroyed the demon’s wings before stabbing its belly. She removed Avnas from her belt. The second demon was still too far away for her to reach it. She noticed the pillars on either side. She hoped it go for her again. It seemed distracted at the moment. It was trying to avoid Dante’s bullets.
She stepped back and broke into a run. She ran up one of the pillars. She stopped half way and leaped across to the pillar on the opposite side. In mid-air, she uncoiled her whip and lashed it. It wrapped around the demon. Her feet touched the pillar and she bent her knees. She jumped downwards. She pulled the demon along.
Using the momentum, she twisted her shoulder back and swung her arm forward. The whip unwound and the demon was sent hurtling towards the ground. In order to prevent itself from plummeting to the ground below, the demon opened its wings.
She landed on the ground. She quickly stepped back. She didn’t stop till her back touched the pillar behind her. She stood up straight and kept Avnas. She smirked as she crossed her arms. She refused to admit that she was still shaking on the inside. The bullets missed her by a hair’s breadth. Twice! She decided that she ought to be careful the next time round.

As the Fallen fell, Vergil burried Yamato into it's gut and twisted the sword sharply. The demon gave a silent scream and vanished in a burst of light. Vergil flicked the blood off of Yamato and sheathed the katana.
Dante panted, "I guess they don't love us any more."
He felt a little guilty. He hadn't meant to nearly shoot Selena the second time.

Selena laughed. "Probably..."
She hoped that neither twin had spotted her nervous she really was. She walked over to the mirror. She hesitated. She scolded herself. She shouldn't be afraid. She decided that she ought to be a little more gung-ho, they're here to rescue Maya after all. She stepped in. It would only make sense. She was the nearest one to the mirror after all.
She blinked. She was standing upside down. There were stairs running in different directions. Some ran sideways, others upwards and the rest downwards. They ran into the ways and seem to curve out of it. She bit her lip. She was worried about taking a step. She didn't want to fall all the way down. She hoped either Vergil or Dante will join her soon.

Vergil and Dante exchanged looks and the elder twin stepped into the mirror. A small wave of diziness washed over him.
"How strange...."
Dante jumped through the mirror and grinned at the sight of everything.
"Cool!" He tried to jump and found that he couldn't. "Hey! What gives?!"
Ignoring his younger brother, Vergil said, "Perhaps we should find a way out?"

Selena wanted to laugh, when Dante couldn't jump. She was relieved that she won't fall of the steps. She frowned. What sort of enchantments did they use here anyway? She should ask Vergil about it after they get out. She still had so many questions to ask.
She smiled. "We should."
She scanned the area. She spotted the next mirror. It was located right in the center of the maze. She frowned. Now this was difficult. They had to get from one staircase to another without jumping. She looked at those that went straight into the wall. She wondered if they can actually pass through the wall. It seemed like an optical illusion.

(Mind if I start a new arc?)
Alex woke up with a pounding headache, what felt like a fever and the sound of her children screaming in her ears. It was the last of these that forced her to sit up and open her eyes.
She got the impression of a lot of fire and blinked heavily, rubbing her temples.
"Dice?" She called, stumbling to her feet. "Denny?" Growing more desperate as she looked around at the admittedly blurry landscape. "Aiden?" She yelled. "Candice? This isn't funny!"
